I have a new site on Weight Loss.

I have 6 articles, 4 of which have been indexed.

Site was created around mid August, and it just kinda sat there with no articles (Hello page, coming soon page).

I have exactly 0 organic traffic visitors from Google, despite a few of the articles being a month old now.

I targeted some long tail keywords..Not over-optimized, and added in some LSI keywords too....They are very natural unique articles.

The only SEO is technorati, a press release, facebook and twitter (trying to stay very natural), one hubpage w/ 1 do follow link.

I have modest goals....One visitor per day, per article.

But nothing! not a single organic visitor.

More SEO? more articles? Google seems to have a mind of its own. Is the weight loss niche really this hard to crack?

It's very hard to crack and even harder to crack with a new site with only four articles indexed on it.

Sorry but it is a lot harder, especially when you're new to this, to just throw up a site, do very little and expect visitors.

Incidentally I take it your entire plan is to get organic traffic? Seriously, there are far better ways to get traffic than blindly hoping you're doing what Google want you to do....today.

Tommorrow they'll probably want something different.

    J,

    Nice analogy.

I meant one visitor per day per article, as I plan to be writing a whole lot more!
Just discouraging not seeing any results, when some of my other sites do a whole lot better with just one article.

I will take your advice on forum profiles and blog commenting.

Richard, my plan actually isn't to rely on google 100% this time around, but they are still part of the equation. I have a very brandable site imo, very catchy domain name for such a competitive niche.

I have one Google image ad on my page (adsense), but I have an ebook in the works. Will be experimenting with other advertising/marketing methods down the road such as radio, PPC, youtube, social media. For now I just want to keep my SEO efforts as natural as possible and get "some" traffic while I finish the book and upsell products.

Creat a good mix of writing and backlinking. It is not enough to only write articles.
