Hey Warriors! Its really not a huge deal, but then again it is!

Every once in a while I like to write a DIY guide for any given niche and use it to build a list...

What I love to do is give "give away" rights to everyone who downloads it to build "their" lists.

These types of reports can really get on the "viral train" if you know what I mean...I was getting traffic from hundreds sites I have never even heard of or dealt with...one was actually a respected "ware" (I hove absolutely no clue how that happened).

So anyway, I just so happened to log on to an affiliate program that I haven't looked at in forever (I had stuffed my AFF Link in the guide) and sure enough, there was a notice that I had piled up commissions and needed to submit my tax info...UGH.

Anywho...needless to say...the check is on the way.

Two takeaways for me:

1) If you are a half-way decent writer, seriously think about investing some time in writing a solid DIY guide that people can use as a giveaway to build their lists (if they're too lazy to write their own - sometimes I am)

2) Never underestimate the power of compounding virality

      This is a really helpful and interesting post. I need to think about doing this, myself. Sorry, I'm not really saying very much, here, but sometimes the "thanks" button just isn't enough.

          Ed, unless you were in the same niches as BitBot, and you could trace a path showing how his links ended up on those sites, it really wouldn't be all that useful, I believe. With a couple of hundred million pages online, no one is going to penetrate them all.

            I would be willing to bet that with the talent floating around this place, there would definitely be some home runs knocked out of the park...

            I mean...one SOLID DIY guide launched by the right person could literally spawn entire businesses for people.

    Super idea, I'll try it out. I had something similar where I wrote a couple short books in an area I have a lot of expertise in and kind of forgot about them. Then I got a check in the mail for $200! I was shocked, and excited. So I'm writing more and promoting them.

    I agree 100%. I wrote a free report in 2010, which focussed on a particular product, but it was a 1,200 word report with the link sprinkled throughout.

    Good thing I chose an evergreen product to promote, as two years later it still nets me on average 5 commissions per month.

    Might not be tons, but heck - in my eyes those are FREE commissions without my literally having to even lift a finger.

    I only promoted it on one of my sites as a opt-in "freebie" with full giveaway rights.

    Sometimes things just work (and sometimes they don't).

    I think I'm going to do this with everything I write from now on.
