Driving traffic through attraction!

Attraction! I write this word instead of "promotion".

I've heard that attraction is better than promotion. Attraction is what drives viral traffic/interaction, versus promotion, which is more pushing content in front of someone.

What do you think the key underlying aspects of attraction are?

If I want to increase my sites' traffic so that there are lots of viewers, what do I or does anyone else need to do to attract lots of traffic?

I think that one key is showing the viewer/visitor something related to the ideas and/or topics that they REALLY care about. What do you think? What are other aspects?

I hope this alright to post this here. Traffic and visitors can equate to earning money, no? That is why I posted this here!

  • "Promotion"... "attraction"... I think you're arguing semantics. It doesn't matter how you bring your traffic, as long as it's targeted.

Regardless of what attraction marketing coaches say you need to position your content in front of your target audience to get a lot of traffic. If its You Tube then the videos need to show up on the front page for you to guarantee you get traffic. If its articles you need to syndicate your content across targeted sites. If its paid ads you need to run campaigns with a presise scientific process to find which keywords convert and eliminate the ones that do not. There is a science behind every traffic generation method. It helps to be in control to use law of attraction in your favor. If you have read Think and Grow Rich you will know that specialized knowlege is a necessity in acheiving your goals. If your in internet marketing you need specialized knowledge in traffic generation and conversion techniques.

I understand where you are coming from - push v pull. People often talk about driving traffic to a site. As I see the difference, 'driving' traffic is where you engage in activity that intentionally and directly leads to an increase in traffic; 'attracting' traffic is where other people feel compelled to pass on your marketing message for you.

I think the answer to your question about increasing this second type of traffic is to build a site that has characteristics that hook people who tend to make social recommendations.

Someone here recently said, 'if you want more likes, make a site that is likeable' and I think that is a very astute comment. Similarly, if you want a site that gets Tweeted, make a site that is Tweet-worthy. If you want a site that gets referenced by others, make a site that is an authority within its theme. In short give those people what they want and let them go to work for you.

Nice. Yes. Push versus pull is exactly what I am getting at. I like that, "'if you want more likes, make a site that is likeable'".

Well i think both promoting and attraction both bring targeted traffic if done well. The idea is doing something to promote your business and putting something out there that attracts visitors.

Attraction vs. Promotion? Attraction, for some, means visuals like pictures, etc. Pictures are the most liked posts on Facebook. They don't even have to be promoting your product. Getting people to come to "hangout" on your page for any reason is good. Post pictures to engage fans; don't always pitch them.

      Excellent point and insightful!

I should know that, but I never thought actually realized that.

It is really all about getting the right "targeted" buyers to your offer. This what will make the most sales for you. If you bring in the wrong traffic, "attraction" marketing will still not work for you.
