Dear WF,

I am new to using Clickbank, and have come up with three ways to use this site, and was wondering which one I should pursue, and please include any other advice you have. Thanks!

1. I could post hoplinks in traffic exchange sites (only hoplinks which involve making money).

2. I could create a website and post reviews about the product I am selling, hope to get visitors, and rely on them to make the purchase.

3. I could combine both number one and number two.

Is a website really necessary, and will it lead to such a large increase in sales, even if it is a new website which doesn't have many daily visitors yet? All other advice is appreciated!

Really bad idea actually bad on 2 counts:

    a) Traffic Exchange
    b) Make Money Niche

    2. I could create a website and post reviews about the product I am selling, hope to get visitors, and rely on them to make the purchase.
Better - a bit better, but still not a great strategy.

Do the site, create good content, setup an autoresponder, build a list, send them good stuff and gently pre-sell the products.

    3. I could combine both number one and number two.

You can get away with just having a squeeze page i.e. you don't really need to create online content. But your squeeze page needs to be hosted somewhere, so I would say yes, you do need some sort of site.

Hoplinks in Traffic sites is definitely not a good idea as Edwards says. I would suggest you build an authority site slowly over time with only high quality unique reviews and an offer for your visitors to join your list. If you can't wait that long, building a Sniper site is a good deal!

The first one is a simply dreadful idea, I'm afraid. The second might work as part of a method which is itself based on the three essential requirements for successfully selling ClickBank products. I think it would help you greatly to start by getting those really clear.

Yes. A website (of some kind, even if all it is, really, is a squeeze page to build your list) is just one part of what's necessary.
