Expected Traffic for Posting 2-3 Blog Posts per Day??

Hey,

Iv'e just launched a new blog, and have contracted a writer to post 2-3 articles per day to it, at about an average of 800 words. It's fairly high quality, and well written.

I was wondering - is there a ballpark figure of traffic that would be considered normal? For example - would 50 uniques per day be a realistic goal for the first month? My short term goal is 100/day.

Any insights would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Articles alone won't get you traffic. You need to optimize those articles and rank them for specific keywords.

Have you done keyword research and compiled a list of which keywords you want to target?

Take the same articles and submit them to a few article directories with a source: yourwebsitehere.com at the bottom.

Yep - each post is designed for specific keywords. I might just be being impatient - we just started last week, maybe it will take a few more days for Google to index my pages. I'm sure that a strong possibility....lol

There is no accurate data to answer your question especially today where articles are hard to rank. It depends on how big the niche market is and your target audience.

Ya, I totally understand. Any idea of when google might get around to indexing all the new content?

    Thanks!

    Hi,
Do you use ping services (like pingler.com) in order to index your new content?
Do you use social marketing in order to promote your articles?

    Further traffic generation options:
    • Go to your targeted traffic; let them know about your blog.
    • Jazz it up with pictures etc to make it look pretty.
    • Share posts on social media; twitter FB etc
    • Contribute quality content elsewhere and link back to yours
    • Understand your traffic sources. Apply google analytics.

It seems like your goal is organic traffic from search engines. Traffic will vary depending on the subject. For example if you writing 50 foot yachts you may only get a couple of visits, but they will each be very valuable.

If you are interested in seeing how much traffic a keyword you can use the "google adwords keyword tool" which is free to see the number of searches for the topic you are writing about per month.

Keep in mind however that only a portion of the people who may see your site in the google results may visit your site and that the links in the top positions of the google results receive the majority of traffic. Also here is a link to an article that discusses how much traffic the top positions at google receive. How To Estimate How Much Traffic You'll Gain By Increasing Your Rankings - Agent SEO

That article is flawed. He goes through a bunch of calculations based on the premise that every search results page garners a click. In a later paragraph, he pretty much throws away the notion that a page of results may not get a click by citing the suggested search feature and then pulling a number out of thin air to discount it.

There's also flaws in these 'which position gets what percentage of clicks' studies.

I haven't seen one yet that accounts for the intent of the searcher. If I'm looking for the Domino's Pizza website, and I search for "Domino's Pizza" - wonder of wonders, Domino's Home Page - Domino's Pizza, Order Pizza Online for Delivery - Dominos.com comes up in the #1 position. So I click it. Chalk up another point for the #1 position. If I'm searching for "how to find the right beach rental", the intent (and result) isn't as clear. Now other factors besides position enter into my choice of which link to click, if any.

They also don't seem to account for multiple clicks from the same page of results. In my beach rental example, I might click on one or all ten results depending on what comes up. But the studies will deduce that each click is from a discrete search.

I won't discount the desirability of being on the first page of results. I've been known to go 20 pages deep looking for something, but I'm also more likely to simply change my search query without clicking anything.

That article is ludicrous nonsense, in my opinion. It rests almost entirely on deeply mistaken "logic", wildly inaccurate assumptions and even some of the arithmetic is straight out of the Urban Myth Math School. Be influenced by it - in any way - at your peril!!

Come on now Alexa, I think you're being a little unfair. That was an unbiased, well researched article that had no ulterior motive whatsoever.

...Yeah. I don't even feel right saying that in jest.

You will need to advertise your blog to drive in traffic.
As stated above keywords will rank you up in the Google index
Your articles should be of the same niche.. or your blog should be known for what it delivers

The niche you are working in, can be a big factor in traffic issue. If you niche is very competitive, you ma not get too much traffic with article only. You will need to do some optimization for your posts. Otherwise with medium and low competition niche, you can very well get good number of visitors everyday with high quality articles only.

Hmm, I've been doing some searches for the site:[mysite] in google - an it only has 12 pages showing - anyone have an idea when the rest will show up in search?

    Thanks!

Patience is a virtue, Rome wasn't built in a day...all that good stuff. A good business isn't built overnight.

They say you should spend 10-25% of your time posting content; 90-76% of your time promoting it.
