If a friend needed to make 3,000 per month what programs would you suggest?

Hi Weekend Warriors:

Hope all is well.

I got an email from a friend today that would like to generate about 3,000 a month to offset large expenses (kids in college), etc.

He and his wife could devote 25-30 hours a week learning and doing.

With the knowledge you have been afforded what Internet Marketing and related programs would you suggest they try?

The husband/wife are open to almost anything but will not:
Promote anything unethical
Do not want Multi Level Marketing

To start they would like to see if there is a program 200.00 American dollars or less that they can learn from.

Thank you for your time as always.

It's really hard to say since there are so many programs out there right now that claim they'll make you money. The easiest way would be to probably start a service oriented online business such as a submission service or article writing, if they are willing to put in the necessary work to get started. Those services are always in demand, but the payout may not reach the 3k range unless they really pushed it.

With regards to a set program to recommend, sometimes a "paid" program is not necessarily the way to go. Before spending $200 on a system, they can read through the forums available here as there is lots of free and valuable information available that can help them get started with internet marketing.

      Hi Alicia:

Thanks for the reply. I'll pass that info on to the friends and if any other Warriors have advice please give a yell, not actually scream but a few words here and there.

      Thanks and enjoy the weekend!

To start off, why not suggest using Clickbank affiliate for your friend? Your friend can start selling others' products from Clickbank. At least they will get a feel of things and depending on what direction they want to undertake. Clickbank does have a good range of products or services where your friend can promote without having their own products. It is always a good start as that is how I began my journey with Internet Marketing. I have gone through the ups and downs, over-spending at times and now am more cautious to pick the right choices. I do believe being an affiliates will be a good start but choose wisely on what they want and start promoting. Do remember that it will take time for things to pick up so do not hop from one to another too quickly before success comes into play.

I'm going to be straight with you. It will take you a bit to sort everything out and get to 3000 a month. This stuff is hard work. If it was easy I don't think as many of us would be on this forum trying to learn as much as we can. I learn something new everyday and that is with over a year learning this IM stuff. Just want to bring you down to earth. There is money to be made, but you need to be realistic.

            Hi Grover:

Thanks for the post. The info on this one isn't for me. It is for the neighbor.

I will have my own Warrior Special soon and am an author and public-speaker. The neighbor has to get their kids through college and I don't have to tell anyone what that amounts to in dollars and cents.

            Enjoy the weekend!

    Hi Craig,

What is their area of expertise? Just "jumping" in to make $3,000/month is not magic. It is possible, but not realistic if they have no computer background.

The closest they could do with literally no experience would be article writing (I've successfully done about $2k/month as an experiment so far) -- but it will actually be 'work'. There are a lot of other techniques to make a "quick" $2-5k here and there (but by "quick" it presupposes they have computer/marketing skills. If they don't have that, probably not too likely they'll pick it up in a month or so).

So article writing is probably the 'easiest'/'safest' way to get started.

      Hi Johnathan:

Thanks for the post. The neighbor could write articles and I could help them with that facet of the business plan without charging. You have a great thought! They are good with words and very people oriented. Without speaking for them it is possible that they could do well with articles but also find a system that would teach them about marketing products, pay per click, review sites, and so on. They (husband and wife) could give a good amount of time to make it work and they have each other to help with the learning curve.

      Thanks!!

Here's my suggestion. Get them 2 invest half that $200 in a good memberships script. Then, depending on what they are good at, ask them to post monthly content in the membership site, for example, yoga, site templates, kids stuff, etc. List the site on CB and Paydotcom, spend some time recruiting affiliates, and within no time, 3k per month should be reached!

I think it depends on whether they *needed* to make an extra $3000 a month or if it's more of a "it would be nice if..." situation.

If they need the money, I would suggest that they work for an article writing company, something where they'd be getting paid for their work and there is ample work to be had. This way, they don't have to mess around with getting writing clients.

Other options, whether affiliate marketing or creating their own info product, often take longer to get going and can be hit or miss.

    Love,

Like anything new that they are learning, it does take a while to figure out what you are good at in internet marketing and what works for you.

I started out by writing articles and ebooks for other people, and by doing that I learned how THEY made money. Starting out doing services has a lot of advantages - it's sort of like a low-paid internship. Low-paid, because when you are brand new and not well known yet, you can't command high prices - but it is SOME money which is better than nothing.

They could start out by joining the Warrior Forum, posting on here and asking questions, and when they have enough posts, running a WSO for some kind of service they can provide - say, article writing. They need to do some research first to find out what other people are charging for that same service.

I actually started here on the Warrior Forum - charged $25 per article to start as I recall - but I was a newspaper reporter for many years so I used that as a reason to charge more than the average.

I know that Tiffany Dow started on freelance sites - I think elance.com. From what I gather, she started out by providing killer quality and not charging a lot, got great testimonials, and was able to raise her prices.

Once you get some customers who give you good feedback, and testimonials, you're golden. It's like anything else - when you're just starting out, you can't charge as much. When I started out as a reporter, I literally waitressed to support myself and did a free internship at a newspaper until I had clips and a reference.

When you are brand new at anything, you have to prove yourself and work for very little at first, and then you can start raising your prices.

Seems to me if your neighbors want to know how to get started - you should tell them to GET INVOLVED. They should join the WF, join the War Room and be proactive in asking questions themselves and in learning the basics.

Asking "how do I earn" or "what should I buy" - will get the same suggestions and responses every time. Asking about "programs" will bring on "check out my signature", "buy my ebook" and affiliate links.

THEY have to decide what area they want to pursue - THEY have to learn the basics of what to do. It's hard enough for someone new to get started online - trying to do it "once removed" by having someone ask for you won't work.

Why do they think they need to "join a program"??? Unless they want MLM (which they don't) that's not necessary. They need to spend the money on domains, hosting and software/tools and design their own program/plan of action.

        Hi Kay:

Thanks for the post. I don't believe the neighbors feel they have to join a program but their thought (it made sense to me) was if you had a program called Kay's ABC Internet Course and the contents included how to pick a product, how to develop one, getting traffic, videos, audio, emails responders, Private Label Rights, Special Offers, etc they would encompass a lot of information in one place and learn step by step what systems to put in place, what take the most time, how to allocate a budget and so forth.

        That was their general inclination.

Thank you so much for taking the time on a weekend to help them! Enjoy the day.

It seems to me that they should spend their money learning how to get traffic. If they can get traffic nothing else matters, because they can always monetize their traffic.

On the other hand, if they can't get traffic, nothing else matters, because they can't monetize anything.

I am not sure you are doing your friend any favors by simply passing on everything that is posted in here. Are you experienced in internet marketing yourself? Evidently they think you have the experience or they wouldn't have asked you for advice in the first place correct? I think your best advice to them would be to come here and setup a Warrior account. Then join the War Room and start reading.

The problem with passing on advice from a forum like this is that you are conveying advice from people that may or may not have the knowledge needed to produce the income you are looking for.

It's great to have an income goal, but without knowing their experience level, and how hard they are willing to work, who is to say if they can earn the money they need? I really think posting a question such as this is futile. They need to explore the possibilities for themselves and the war room is a good place to get started with that exploration.

I can however tell you from my experience that the quickest way to make that income goal is to do market research to discover a demand, and fill it with a product of your own. They will then have the potential to earn that much and a lot more.

      Hi Don:

You bring up articulate points, thank you. By the way good afternoon.

It is a tough call about do I pass on information or should they post the question. My decision to do the beginning leg work is because often people that have a great work ethic and solid intelligence can be overwhelmed by information and hurt by negativity.

As a writer, public speaker, and motivator I didn't want them to have their thought of attempting internet marketing/home based business derailed if there were no responses to the thread or people saying "If it were that easy pal everyone would do it."

Thanks to the great Warrior folks like you, I have a tremendous amount of material (all positive) to go over with them and if they have follow-up questions there is a good chance I can explain in the comfort of their home.

It is greatly appreciated the excellent post you took the time to pen on a weekend!

They should keep affiliate marketing of physical products in mind. Amazon's affiliate program is pretty easy to get into and they sell almost everything.

The products tend to not pay as much as a digital product, but there are so many to choose from and you can find some niches with little competition. A product like Micro Niche Finder might be a good investment.

I've done a little bit of everything and I find that preselling physical products is the most enjoyable for me. After dabbling in everything, it's where I've decided to place my focus.

Article marketing, as already suggested is a very strong avenue. If, as you say they are good with words they can sell their skills on elance.com.

Thousands of dollars can be made on elance writing articles, however it is a lot of work, skilled work. If they are experts in a field, they should sail this.

If they are looking at building multiple income streams then I'd suggest they become affiliates with EPN (Ebay Partner Network). By doing a little research on Ebay Pulse and Google's Keyword Tool it is pretty simple to come up with niches that they can build a profitable little store around. With a Wordpress blog and a tool like PHPBay Pro they can be making money in short order. Once they've started making money with one niche store site it is pretty easy to replicate multiple times over.

The key is to have relevant content on the niche store sites so Google doesn't penalize them as "thin content" sites. Build some backlinks (social bookmarking, dofollow blog comments, article directories etc.) and, assuming they've chosen a niche without a lot of competition, they will quickly rank high for their chosen keywords.

Ebay is a trusted name, so I find conversions to be higher than most other affiliate programs I've tried. Also, if the buyer isn't already a member of Ebay you get a nice commission when they sign up. Just another potential income stream for them to consider.

Hi Craig. PHPBay Pro is a Wordpress plugin that allows you to inject live Ebay auction listings into your pages or posts based on the keywords and/or Ebay categories you specify. The plugin is very customizable allowing you to display listings in rows or columns, exclude certain keywords, specify how many listings you want to show. It also includes a widget that allows you to display auction listings in your sidebar if you prefer.

There are a number of similar scripts including BaNS (Build a Niche Store), but I only have experience using PHP Bay Pro. The script costs $79, and that gets you the plugin itself and also access to their forum, which has a lot of fantastic information on how to really supercharge your earnings. If they don't want to shell out for the Pro version then there is also a PHP Bay Lite plugin which has limited functionality, but will give you a taste of how it works.

One thing that I have learned in my experimentation is that PHP Bay Pro works best when you build a store and add some blog posts to it, rather than building a blog and adding auction listings to it. Reason: People come to a blog looking for information, and rarely become buyers. People coming to a store are already looking to buy so the conversion is much, much higher.

I've heard that it is more difficult to get into the Ebay Partner Network these days, but the same guy that built the PHP Bay plugin also has an Amazon Associates plugin now, so that is another option as well.

As a writer, public speaker, and motivator I didn't want them to have their thought of attempting internet marketing/home based business derailed if there were no responses to the thread or people saying "If it were that easy pal everyone would do it."
How old are they, 12? If they're that easily dissuaded, they probably aren't ready to run an internet marketing/home based business.

Thank you for elaborating on the PHPBay Pro. It sounds as if it could be a phenomenal tool for not only the neighbors (if they go that route) but many of the fine Warriors.

I appreciate you explaining it so that I actually comprehending everything on the first read.

i would suggest checking out WARRIOR FORUM best threads....and pick ONE strategy & pick ONE niche & focus on that ONE project ONLY....and make sure to FORGET about all the other tips and tactics and launches...

i notice focusing on ONE project is MUCH better in the long run than trying to do multiple things at same time...

Jeremy Kelsall and Donald VanFossen (zerofill here at the forum) have a marketing bootcamp and an article bootcamp that I'd recommend. They also have a CPA bootcamp, but I haven't tried that one - too busy.

But the marketing bootcamp, which focuses on article marketing, is a pretty great introduction to the basic skills you'll need to do any kind of internet marketing - finding niches, keyword research, how to get traffic.

Article marketing and the like may not ultimately be the way your friends will be able to make money, but it is a good way to learn the basics, because it doesn't require a huge financial investment.

Thanks for the answer to the post. It looks as if the neighbors would enjoy writing articles, having a blog, posting on forums, and building a website. They aren't sure on the niche for the site but as for the articles they have a background that is impressive and can use their skills to create the income they need.

It is tremendous how the fine Warriors gave so many usable responses and the amount of views for the thread have been growing.

Craig, have them take 10% of that $200 kitty and invest in Willie Crawford's 'how to make $100 a day' ebook. That will give them a great overview of some of the possibilities and how to take advantage of them. If they find a plan they like, then they can focus on learning the ins and outs of that plan.

Just buying some IM course without knowing what they want to learn could really set them back. (No disrespect to the folks here selling legitimate info - much disrespect for the clown with the MMM naked affiliate link.)

Craig, where do I gain any advantage for recommending a product, which I believe is part of what you asked for in your original post?

Since your friend/client is only placing a $200 value on
a business projected to earn $36k per year I would
suggest you stop telling this person about internet
marketing because you will be expected to mentor
the person for free, taking valuable time away from
      building your own business.

That $200 would be well-spent buying books on how to
succeed in direct marketing or learn the relevant skills
      that make money in business.

Usually when people are hoping to launch a business
with such unrealistic expectations they are poorly-
informed in basic areas pertaining to home-business
success - but they'll soak up the hours of attention
you spend telling them the basics.

In the sales world this is called "unpaid consulting".

        Hi Loren:

Hope you are well. Sometimes the amount an individual places on an object, project, etc. isn't because of looking to take a short cut. It is very possible if the neighbor had 750.00 dollars they would invest that into the idea of an internet/home business. It may not be that they have less desire but not the income.

There are times somebody can succeed because their eyes and ears are open. Is it possible that they could take the 200.00 budget as well as free information and earn 902.00 dollars. Then take 702.00 for their savings and invest another 200.00 in the business? I have to believe not every person that ever made a good profit had good spending income the first time around.

Thanks for your insight and I hope the coming week is great!

    Craig,
How about incentive freebie websites via forum traders? I did this when I was flat broke about two years ago for about a week and earned around $500 before my head exploded, lol.

It will not make them rich, and there is a lot of work involved, but training is free and pretty good too. There's no residual income here - this is as close as you're going to get to a "real job" online, but it does work. For more info, check my signature link.

Here is what I would receommend:

1 - They join the following membership site: www.earn1kaday.net
2 - They spend a weekend reading everything in that forum
3 - Pick one of the products that is provided as a perk for being a member
4 - Promote that product and make money (between that forum and this forum and their reading homework they should know what to do)

The information above is very basic in nature but if they follow it and truly commi themselves they will see results and get a heck of a lot smarter on IM.

After 30 days if they work as a team they will be able to start realizing their incoem goals.

There are many reasons but here are just a few:

1 - The owner (Dennis) purchases lots of products that allow him the rights to pass on to his members. In some cases the members can use the actual product and make money with it.

2 - The forums members are extremely forthcoming in their postings and helpful. Many examples of what is being done to make money.

3 - It is a good balance to this forum (between the two forums you have everthing you need to succeed online).

Don't get me wrong, there are several other forums that offer good info also and can be just as helpful to your neighbors such as Wealthy Affiliate, Niche Rockets...etc

No matter which membership they choose they will still need to spend a weekend just reading, taking notes, soaking information in and finally outlining some battle plans to pursue.

No problem......glad to help - Without question, this forum is probably the BEST Internet marketing forum on the Internet but I think you always need to balance a free forum with a paid forum because sometimes there are some things not mentioned in a free environment.

Also, it would be darn near impossible to try and read everything in this forum but a smaller forum such as the other 3 I mentioned would not take as long to research through. This allows you to quickly find some valid methods and then implement them to make money.

Hey Craig, just for starters, I'd try to find projects that others need help with. They'll pay your neighbors once they complete the project (project could be writing articles, submitting content, making a video, etc.). I know quite a few people that make 5 figures a month just job hunting. Then I'd find a good converting Clickbank or Paydotcom product and promote it via solo ads and cheap PPC. Your neighbours should spend 20-25% of their project earnings on solo ads and cheap PPC. Just another method that has worked well for me.

I would recommend that a newbie start off with Site Build It. After a lot of research, I could only find positive feedback about their program. And it provides an excellent education while you are building your business.

The cost is about $300, unless you discover a special sale or get a price break from one of their affiliates. Then the cost might be as low as $150.

Thanks for your response for my neighbors. Yes, Site Build It as a company has tremendous feedback. The one thing my neighbor would have to keep in mind is that is only the foundation because Site Build It will give you the website, Search Engine Optimization, etc but not the product itself. You never see a bad word about them in print.

I'd have them start building their list. Using the $1 per subscriber per month rule, they would only need to get around 3,000 active subscribers.

Tell them to build a relationship with their list and start learning to craft emails promoting affiliate products. You can direct them to utube where they can learn how to list build for free.
