How to generate traffic for Boy Scouts t-shirt sales

Hi everyone,

My son's troop is raising money for their winter and summer camps (this usually runs about $300-400/year). Their main, Boy Scouts-approved method is selling popcorn, but it's a tough sell as it's quite expensive - a lot harder to sell than those delicious Girl Scouts cookies!

So I've started a Cafepress store (called Funny Boyz) featuring t-shirt designs that primarily involve an animal plus funny captions - actually, my son comes up with them and I post them. Other boys in the troop are working on their designs to add.

Now I need to make sales. So my questions are:
1. Can I SEO a Cafepress store effectively?
2. Is Pinterest good for this type of thing. I haven't "done" Pinterest so really know nothing about how to promote stuff on it.
3. My other ideas, if anyone has further input or advice, are Craigslist, eBay classifieds, Squidoo and, of course, I'm already posting them to my personal Facebook page.

Winter camp payment is coming up soon so we don't have a bunch of time to "test" ideas - I'm trying to go for the jugular, so to speak!

Thanks a bunch!
Nancy

Hi Nancy, I would suggest you start building and connecting the current scouts and past scouts on a Facebook page if you haven't already. Start pushing this for the long term and it will grow into an effective marketing channel for the scouts.

Then take those Cafepress shirt designs and share them 1 a day on to the page and get people to like them. Additionally, you could use promoted posts, which are between $5-10 to target extended circles. To my knowledge, scouts have local chapters and there will be a strong local flavour on this.

You can also use Facebook offers for the page once you hit 400 likes.

I'm sooo glad you said that about promoted posts on FB - that's exactly what I did about a few hours ago because I saw the offer to promote come up when I posted about the Cafepress store. But as soon as I did it, I thought I might have made a mistake on the timing - 7 pm on a Sunday?

I wonder if anyone has any information on the best timing of these on FB so that I can make the best use of the promoted post.

      Thanks for your information.

Have a look at this too https://www.facebook.com/help/offers

Not the best time to start but Facebook will show it over 5 days anyways, so it doesnt matter what time you start it.

Thanks! I see you're in my neck of the woods - the troop is based in Summerville.
