If You Are A Newbie - Read This

When starting out in Internet Marketing one of the biggest problems is;

"You start one thing and then get distracted by another"

This will destroy your chances of making money even before you make some. In fact, you may have had this happen to you or you are right in the middle of this happening right now.

The best way to dig yourself out is;

Choose 1 of your projects only. Get rid of the rest - sell them or discard them or whatever.

Then, concentrate on that 1 project 100%. Do not get distracted by ANYTHING else whatsoever.

Persist with your one project - make sure you find out all about your niche as much as possible. Build your unique content, drive traffic, create partnerships in your niche, work on it for MONTHS.

Laser target that 1 niche and continue working on that one project until your see the "fruits of your labour".

One other rule - forget the IM market or the Make Money Online Market. Choose something else that is not related because you will see results MUCH faster and you WILL make cash.

Hope this helps some of the newbies out there.

I think you make a good point. To many people are trying to manage multiple businesses thinking that more variety will give them a better chance of success. We all get distracted to easily and need to focus on making 1 thing work at a time.

It is easy to get caught up in to many issue's at the same time and never really accomplish much of anything. This business can lead you down a path of trials, best to set goals each day and focus on achieving them.

Yes, you just need to focus, focus and focus!!

If you can make a dollar, you make $10, $100, $1000 in time to come.

All you need is to start with baby steps first, soak yourself into the niche/target audience and find out what they really want and give it to them.

I don't think it's just Newbie's who are at risk of being distracted. I've been online marketing since 2002, and I can still be distracted by all things bright and shiny lol

It is a definite plus if you can make sure you stay focussed on whatever you are doing

I am always a newbie even though I have done it since 1997. There is always so many new things to be learned and discovered. Technology is always fast moving and new things are quickly catching up. So I am always busy keeping in pace but remain as a newbie.

There is always so much information that comes along the way, making me feeling like a time bomb ready to explode. Though I regard myself as a newbie, I will plan to do one project at a time before moving on to another. I always give it a chance to bring income without giving up too soon. Sometimes I do make mistake in my new venture so abandoning it will be the last resort in order not to incur further losses. Being a newbie, I look carefully with my choices and do quite a bit of research before jumping into it.

Yeah! You are right. It is more important to be focused in 1 particular project to increase more money. And it is best to put realistic content on your blog or whatsoever to get higher traffic or you could be in google rankings. Content is more important to the visitors or the readers. They don't really after the rankings more. They are more into the quality of your website or your blogs. It should be more interesting topic.

I think it comes down to having a plan. Figure out where you want to be, then reverse engineer it back to today with solid stepping stones to reach that goal. You'll have mini-successes along the way when you reach each mark keeping you motivated to continue on. This will help you to focus on the next stepping stone, without being seduced by the next "secret" tactic.

I totally agree. I should have put up 100 pages on one site but instead have 3 half-assed sites that generate about $50/month. I should just cancel hosting on the other two and work on them in my spare time.

Stay out of the WSO section. Most -- if not all -- of it is pure junk, owing to the reason why you're surprised to have spent money while making nothing. I'm not sure why such abject garbage is allowed here.

Great advice. As a beginner myself I was working on 4 sites, too many affiliate programs to mention and buying WSO's. Once I picked one WSO to focus on and one product (e-book) to write, things are actually getting done and actually starting to make a part-time income.

Excellent advice, but very hard to follow. When I started last year I kept falling for the latest and greatest sounding things to come along. I ended up spending more and more money and never had anything coming in. I finally wised up and quit reading those emails and visiting all those sites that kept tempting me to switch what I was doing.

I have spent the last few months concentrating on one thing. I have learned a lot and feel it was the best thing I ever did.

Take the advice of this post and pick one thing to concentrate on and get good at.

I get distracted all the time by this dang forum :-)

I also like to check my stats - A LOT LOL

I make a list, prioritize it, then do it - and THEN go on to other stuff.

This helps me most of all stay focused.

I agree with these two warriors. Being a newbie, you need to learn the ropes of the trade. so, you need to be 100% focus on the project... concentrate until you can add 1 more, then another one, until such time you think you can already handle multiple projects.

Totally agree with focusing on one project until it's completed. I"ve bought 2 WSOs in the past week and looked at many, many more in the past several weeks. All the info is soooo good but yesterday I decided to focus on one project and finish it. I've also decided to spend some money outsourcing with very experienced people. Also, trying to be intentional in my actions instead of reading for hours with no activity to show for it.

    Well Warriors,

Once again I find myself reading your advice and smiling as it is always timely...Yes I am multi-tasking right now with 2 different projects and as you may have guessed they are both progressing slower than I anticipated...hmmm

Ok I get it...now I just have to figure out which project to set aside until I finish one to completion

Amen, bro. With the flood of so many awesome (and not so awesome) offers out there so many of us bop for item to the next leaving a trail of incomplete projects. Even if you are focused on one project a damn kid bouncing a b-ball two doors down can disrupt and kill your train of thought.

Although not a cure-all, I invested $7 in a pair of 'headphones' at Home Depot that construction guys use to protect their ears from loud noises. They don't play music but they block annoying sounds and allow you to myopically focus on what needs to get done. Try it

Good advice for sure. The only thing I disagree with is getting rid of your other projects. If they are good ideas keep them for later, just put them on ice for now. Do not take them out to look at them even once until AFTER you're making steady money with your first project. Once it's running on autopilot and making money, instead of wondering what to do next, then take one project that was on hold and focus on it, developing it into a second income stream. Rinse and repeat.

And for all newbies, once you have success once, it really does get easier...or at least less confusing.

I think that you should focus on one thing and try to learn everything you can about it, but if you see that this is not the right one for you, you have to look for something else, without sticking on it. You have to be flexible until you find what works for you.

Great advice that I wish I had heard about a year and a half ago. Although I didn't spend a small fortune on one product after another, I did spend some money that I wished I hadn't. Most importantly, I wasted so much time jumping from one thing to another.

Get some good recommendations for a single way to get a good start and definitely stick with that one option/niche.

Unsubscribe from the probably 3 dozen lists that, if you're like I was, you're subscribed to and stay focused. I finally starting making some money, but probably not where I could have been.

Oh, the very first thing I did was to set up a blog on 'Making Money On the Internet!' HeHe, it just seemed like the natural thing to do. Don't do it.

I use to "spin my wheels" a lot till I got in the discipline of making a list of weekly goals for myself. I have found I'm least productive between projects.

    Great Post Easy Cash.

I personally love the GTD method. I have my project lists with all the actions for each project, and each day I go through my calender looking at what is scheduled, and I also when I have time that day look through my next actions and see what else I can do that I might not have scheduled for that day but I can fit in because I have the time.

Before I would work sporadically throughout the day from like 9 in the morning until 11 at night. Then I made a commitment to myself to not do any work after 4pm at all.

This has caused me to become more descriminate about the work that I do do during the day.

Then stuff like browsing websites, or going on facebook, or twitter, youtube, I do not do until AFTER 4pm and AFTER I have gotten done what I needed to get done that day.
