How do you define successful IM'er

I was just wondering to, what your definition of successful IM'er?I been trying for few months and haven't made much yet.I am still unfamiliar with the whole concept of internet marketing. The only time I made money was one system I used and made $400 from it in 6 days, but now they are working on finalizing their system.

So can you guys give me a better definition of a successful IM'er and what makes them successful?

When I hear the term "successful" I often remember the founder of the project I work on, the guy is a genius.

I also asked him a similar question when I started working with him and his reply was inspiring.

He said, "True success isn't about how much you can make in a day, it's about how long you can keep it up."

Judging from what he told me, I believe a successful Internet Marketer is someone who can earn money constantly, rather then earn money once and never be able pull it off again.

I think the problem comes with the "fun" part.I haven't been able to find the fun way of doing it.Any recommendations on how to make things more fun?

Your friend/ceo sounds like a wise man.But at the moment, I can't even pull off the "make money once" feat.By the way the name mayhem is the same as the system I used about a week ago...could it be possible that I know you from there?

This is how I would make it fun:

          - Pick a Niche I like and would enjoy building a business in. (Ensuring that it is profitable first)

          - Select a business model that most appeals to me (I.e. for me it is List Building, Product Creation, Publishing Books on Kindle, Creating Authority Sites and Building Up my Facebook Fan page.) There are tonnes of other interesting business models out there but I always aim to avoid spreading myself too thin.

          - Listen to music whilst conducting IM activities. Rave that thang up! :p

There is no point just doing something for the sake of a $$. Yeah the money is booty-licious I'm not going to deny - but it is more important to be able to choose a business model that has the ability to grow over time and one of which is interesting to construct from the ground up, but most importantly it has to be one that you can deliver plenty of QUALITY content to your audience.

          Hope this helps mate

There are many small successes made along the way to complete success.

I don't know of any Im'ers who took their first step on the lowest rung of the success ladder and immediately was at the top.

So to me, successful Im'ers are the ones who set goals for themselves, meet them and continue on to the next individual rung on the success ladder. As long as you're setting goals and meeting them, you are successful. Don't forget to enjoy the journey!

Success varies for everyone. If it makes you happy then you might be successful but I would say the minimal level of success for IM is making steady income that covers your living expenses plus.

A successful Internet Marketer is one who has met (or exceeded) his goals, and those goals will be different for everybody.

One IMer might be a single parent and just want to make a living from home. If that person finds a way to make 30k per year, even if he doesn't particularly enjoy the work, then he is successful.

Another person might hate their 75K per year corporate job, and want to make at least that much money so they can quit their job and still pay their mortgage. Only making 30K is a failure to them, even though it's a great success to the previous IMer.

Others just want to be their own boss, and really don't care if they get rich or not...

In other words, a person is a success at IM when they reach their own personal goals.

Phil838, you need to be given a round of applause.Your points are very good, also I like how you relate your points to freedom in someway. This idea is the same as what we are doing in our own system.

  • IM is a business, thus like any other business there's just one way to rate it: money.

Strongly disagree. Sure, money is part of success but not all of success. There are plenty of people who make a lot of money but don't enjoy what they do. I wouldn't consider that success.

Personally, I think money follows success instead of success following money. Success is simply accomplishing what you set out to do. There may be monetary goals with that, but if that is all there is, it will be a hollow victory.

I like what Michael Cheney says about it: People who set out to make money fail. People who set out to help others succeed. (My paraphrase)

If you help other people get what they want and/or need, you will be a successful marketer and make money.

That is true, I made $400 in 6 days without much effort. But I think, the reason was because of the system Pandora designed.I am not sure how his system worked, but he sure is a capable individual.I am waiting with anticipation for the final launch.

A successful IMer is one who has been doing this for quite awhile. Loves what he or she is doing as well as earning money from Internet Marketing. Of course, it would be best if his/her product/service is genuinely helping people or customers. Some products/services are just hype.

A successful IM'er is someone who can live off what they earn online alone without having to rely on any other income stream.

That's just for bein and IM'er. However, success is different for each individual. I look at it this way, I work so that I can live life, I don't want to life to work. In that sense it just boils down to what do you consider work? If what you work on is something you love that that is part of living.

For myself I would qualify myself successful when I can spend a little time doing IMing that I enjoy for some time during the day and then spend the rest of the day doing other leisurely activities such as watersports. It would also have to leave room for the possibility of not touching the internet for a few months (to go travelling for example) and not have the business suffer because of it. Having a passive income that lets me live the experiences I want that imply the absense of my online presence.

      But that's just me

    Definition comes in monetary gain.

However, with that comes a few more benefits.

Such as free time. Anyway you want to use it. Family, friends whatever.

Also, as Halbert used to say "Money solves problems that not having money creates".

My definition of a successful IMer:

    1) Sense of Contribution: Knowing he/she is providing genuine and helpful information to his/her readers or clients

    2) Happiness: Is happy doing whatever he/she is doing. Even if the money stop, they will still continue to work. They WANT to work not because they NEED to.

    3) Freedom: Able to travel around the world, spend valuable time with family. Having a strong social life.

    4) Money: Not the most important of all.. I'm sure many of us have heard of rich and famous people committing suicide, turn to drugs etc. The best and most important thing in the world cannot be seen or touched. They must be felt with the heart. Nevertheless, money is still part of being successful..

Thats a tough question to answer... a Personally successful IM'er is someone who is making the amount of money to meet their goals and enhance their life. This might mean that $200/month can be a success for some people.

Now, if you're asking who to trust and/or take advice from, then that is a different story. If you're playing in tough niches with stiff competition, then I'm not taking advice from someone "successfully" making a few hundred (or few thousand) dollars a month. They don't play in that league, and are probably not at a level to give advice on how to compete for that kind of money.

So, success in IM is like success in anything else; a personal definition for what success means to you.

To me a successful IM'er is somebody who set out with a certain goal in mind and obtained that goal. That could range anywhere from having enough money to quit their job, or enough to Jetset around the globe. It could also have nothing to do with money at all. Success is ultimately what you perceive it to be.
