I completely agree! Those other sites are good if you're just getting started, but having your own site and building good relationships with clients and a reputaton for excellence is better.

I'm not discounting your opinion, you are free to have it and no one is going to force you to agree with me .

I'm sorry, I tend to use sarcasm as a default. What I was saying pretty much amounts to "you can make a lot more money for yourself by cutting out the middleman and getting your clients through your own efforts."

Thats right. I think freelancing will getting much popularity in near future.. And more freelancing sites are growing but the question is the quality not the quantity. We should work on the quality freelancing website that will give us money will make us skilled.

Microworkers - work & earn or offer a micro job

Fiverr: Graphics, marketing, fun and more online services for $5

I am guessing you are price driven. I would write this list completely differently.

    1. Elance
    2. PeoplePerHour
    3. Odesk
    4. Freelancer.com
    5. I can't think of a 5.

    In order of decreasing value:

    Warrior Forum
    Elance
    Guru / NO-NO-NO-NO-NO-NO-NO-NO-NO-NO-
    Fiverr / Namepros
The rest are garbage. People per hour may not be too bad but don't have any experience. And some people vouch by odesk but I don't till now.

After Elance it is all downhill. Elance and Warrior Forum are the only real gems. And anything after Guru or NO-NO-NO-NO-NO-NO-NO-NO-NO-NO- isn't really anything to talk home about.

Any website which can't get you at least USD 1000 in profit or USD 2000 in turnover whichever is higher, isn't very impressive. Assuming that you make it to the top 1% over there. The only such websites are Elance and warrior forum at the moment.

Only a handful of people make usd 1000 profit from fiverr, not 1%.

I think we can also include onlinejobs.ph and virtual stuff finder. There are a lot of hardworking, talented and reliable philippine's workers..

no offence but Microworkers - work & earn or offer a micro job is crap to me.

Starting your own website and trying to reach to customers is more difficult, but it is definitely worth it in the long run. I think Freelancing websites are good to get you started, but it is not the best way to go.

Prior to working with Content Writing 360° as a Help Desk Associate, I once used freelancer.com, odesk.com, and elance.com. After scaling myself a few notches higher, I realize that if you know how to price your skills well, you shouldn't be in any of those freelancing sites.

I noticed that the rate for article writers on oDesk is going down. That's the trend. Those contractors from this specific country (okay, I'm not going to mention the country's name) are pulling down the standard rates for different kinds of services, one of which is writing and other administrative tasks.

oDesk can be helpfull if you have the lead. That place is where non-natives english have more english ability than any other place. Most of the freelancer in odesk are a loyal worker if you pay them with reasonable fee

Well, OutsourceFactor is one freelance site. It's a good place to find great VAs. I should know because I work there I'm on the video on the main page of OutsourceFactor.com. I can't really say that my English is flawless but it's not bad and it's a valuable skill to have. There are a lot of people listed on the site that have the same skills I have (or even better)...
