Having list management problems! Autoresponder series & broadcasting strategies...

This past week I've been thinking a lot about improving my list management.

I run three related lists - leads (1shoppingcart), prospects and buyers (both on aweber).

The leads list is for coregistration subscribers. I send this list an autoresponder series and primarily aim to convert them to my prospect list

The prospect list includes converted leads, subscribers through my squeeze pages and JV/adswap subscribers. I've been sending the prospect list an autoresponder series and I segment this list for buyers, clickers, openers and the unresponsive (I broadcast different offers to them based on their status).

The buyer's list comes from the registration page for my products and I only broadcast to this list.

The problem is I know there is significant overlap going on and I imagine some of my subscribers are getting multiple emails from me on certain days, albeit the emails are different...

What I'm planning on doing is deleting subscribers from the leads list when they subscribe to the prospect list and continuing the autoresponder series to the prospect list, but carving out the responsive subscribers and buyers and then broadcast to them.

The issue I'm struggling to resolve is how to carve out the responsive subscribers. It seems I would have to spend a lot of time each day going through the lists and manually checking for overlaps and unsubscribing them from the 'lower' lists (does that make sense?).

I know I'll have to manually unsubscribe leads from 1shoppingcart if they progress, but I had hoped I could have automated the process on Aweber. Unfortunately it seems that I can't do that either. I mean I can segment them on the prospect list, but then won't they continue to get the autoresponder series?

I'd really appreciate any experience you've had with managing related lists, particularly how to simplify things. It seems I am really spending a lot of time just managing the list and writing different emails to different categories of subscribers. Is this just the way it goes or am I missing something.

Any thoughts?
