"When we share affiliate link in email or newsletter (e.g. for thesis theme or aweber affiliates )
then do we need to disclose in the email that they are affiliate links"
as per new FTC rules.

I'm not a lawyer, but I think it's alright as long as your email-series recipients know that you're an affiliate and sometimes include incentivized, affiliate links. I don't think you need to specify it every single time you send them a link, as long as you haven't concealed it from them.

I tend to do it "the other way round", myself, and tell my subscribers initially (and periodically) to assume that links I'm sending are affiliate links unless stated otherwise. It's of great overall benefit to discuss this openly and honestly with subscribers, anyway, and especially to explain how affiliate links work and assure them that they'll never pay extra by purchasing through your affiliate links: some of them will worry about that, if you don't explain it. But trying to conceal the fact is a losing strategy, however you look at it, regardless of any legal/regulatory obligations.

  • I suppose you could add a disclaimer at the end of your email.

Ever notice disclaimers on TV? They are so tiny and shown so fast it is impossible to read them.

    - oh yeah then what about twitter ect.... are you suppose to include a disclaimer every time?

The FTC and most government agencies are run by people looking for a pay check and they are just trying to keep themselves busy creating more red tape. Pretty hard to take these laws serious.
