A heat map isn't going to help you evaluate how your squeeze page and sales funnel is doing. It just tells you where people are looking/clicking on that one page. I think it's more suited to deciding the layout of the CNN homepage than optimizing squeeze pages.

While it's important to understand how your landing pages are used, unless you've already optimized every other aspect of your sales funnel, you'll probably get more by optimizing the quality of the traffic coming in (testing which ads and demographic/geographic targeting settings give you the best ROI), the best landing pages for each of those sources (through A/B testing significantly different pages), and whatever lead nurturing you're doing.

It tells you where the clicks are.
