A really strange problem with my PDF doc

Hey everyone,

I just ran into a problem which I have never encountered before. Basically, I uploaded the exact same PDF file to two different websites of mine. When I access the file on one domain, it works as expected. When I access the file on the other domain, none of the text shows and I get some error messages.

"Cannot extract the following font..."
"Wrong operand type" <- what the heck does this mean?
"Cannot display...errors on page"

I cannot find any logical explanation for this, but maybe someone here can?

Thanks,
Curtis

  • That is odd. Were you using the same browser?

Try creating the PDF file with a different converter (e.g. http://www.pdfonline.com) and see if the problem persists.
  • Yep, same browser. I converted the file to pdf format within Microsoft Word.
  • When you uploaded the file, did you use FTP? If so, did you have Binary or Auto at the site the worked, and ASCII mode at the site that doesn't work? First thing I'd try is at the problem site, delete and immediately re-upload the good file, making sure to use Binary or Auto transfer mode.

  • Haha, thanks Allen, you're a life saver! I'm laughing because I actually have run into this problem, except with an image, not a pdf...uploaded in binary instead of ASCII.

Hopefully I'll know what to do next time

  • Glad I could help, Curtis. Happy uploading!

    Allen
