Which type of email do you enjoy receive from a marketer's list?

Hi guys, I'm curious whether you like to receive free gift email or content email?

Personally, I really hate free gift email... I've seen a lot of marketers doing this, "hey, here's a free gift for you (no-optin)",they throw in a few free gift for you and start promoting affiliate product like no tomorrow!! And once in awhile throw in another free gift for you...Do you like these way of promoting?

I prefer content email which is quick to read and implement. Like a quick tip!
Or emails of Internet Marketers telling their stories and how they can relate them to helping me in internet marketing.

I like the quick tips too. I think we already know that most of the free gifts are rubbish anyway. Who needs another report on how to get more traffic, right? They're usually rehashed junk that gathers dust on the hard drive. So, free reports are out, unless they're specific and interesting which most are not, they're generic. I like cool little tips n' tricks, links to cool websites and free tools. For promotions, I like software programs the best.

Actually, I like the stuff that I send to my own list. If I don't use it, or like it, I don't bloody send it

I have literally unsubscribed from almost every list, it's crazy how often people slam promotions all day.

can anyone recommend someone's list that actually delivers value all the time without promotions every other day?

I like emails that are short and to the point. One thing i notice is different from popular internet marketers vs newbies is that these big guys make things sound real. They send emails less and when they send one it is a bomb... useful stuff

so i still have them subscribed. I also subscribe to others to learn their strategies. Most of the times i never buy the product.

I like the emails I get from Paul Myers. Lots of info and an incidental sales pitch
      that's like maybe a half a paragraph.

Anybody who wants to run an effective newsletter (at least in my opinion)
should subscribe to Talk Biz News and study it. See what Paul does. You can
learn a lot about HOW to run a newsletter just from reading it.

Anyway, that's the kind of emails I enjoy getting and read every single one of
      them.

The type of email doesn't matter. The sender does.

If it is a new Craig Mako product, I have to buy it.

If it is a new Mike McAleer product, I have to buy it.

If it is a new Michael Ullman product, I have to buy it.

Other than that you need to a good reason to convince me and chances are that I won't even open most emails which are send as mass mailers.

I like all the emails I get from marketers - seeing as I am only subscribed to about 4 different marketing lists.

My favourite is Ben Settles list - I've learnt so much about email marketing from him.

I suggest everyone gets on his list ASAP

It totally depends on the free gift. Some of them are very informative and more valuable than some paid products.

I believe giving away free gifts will stay as long as the world and marketing lasts because it is a time tested and proven marketing technique.

Today I received a free router for my PC from my Internet service provider with conditions that I will be their client next 2 years. Why not if I am happy with this service?

My internet service provider makes money on me but why bother if it is a win win situation.

Looks like the problem with free gifts is that a lot of gifts are crap (I have experienced it myself too.)

I dont like emails offering something for nothing as it's never for nothing. There's always a catch. To be honest I dont like any email trying to sell me something. Sometimes I read them before deleting, sometimes I just hit Delete.

Most of the mails I get contain useful information. I've had to unsubscribe from some lists which only promote stuff in 100% of the mails they send. Never understood why anyone would do this.

I however don't see why people keep complaining about email, I thought everyone gets to choose on whose lists you stay?
