WordPress or Instant Site Builder? Advice needed

Dear Warriors,

I am looking forward to launch a Blog / Site about one Globally Medium Known Personality.

The blog would have her biography, news, photo albums, videos, updates etc
I believe I would need to update blog 2-3 times a month. I dont intend to monetize this site.... its just like a passion to do it....

I dont have any knowledge on creating such sites / blogs etc.

At this moment I have 4 thoughts about it..

---- Instant Site Builder [such as with Go daddy, 123 reg or anyone else]
----word press
---- Ask someone to create it for me with CMS
----- Any other idea someone would like to suggest to me

I dont have any codings / CMS knowledge at all,,,,,dont even know how wordpress work etc

Please kindly advise how you build your sites?
what would be the best and easy option for me?
any other advise you would like to give me?

Thanks a lot in Advance for advices, suggestions and comments

You're honestly better off using Wordpress, Joomla Concrete etc. Most, if not all of those site builders are proprietary. If you decide to leave, you're stuck since you can't move their platform somewhere else.

Compared to WP, Joomla is a nightmare. IMO

I recently tested Joomla and Drupal. WordPress is light years ahead of both in ease of use.

Wordpress. Matt Cutts uses wordpress, on top of that he uses Thesis.

Wordpress is just the best route for newbies or beginners.

    Cheers

If you're not even planning to monetize it, you might consider doing a completely FREE wordpress blog for it (wordpress.com) or even blogger.

Just be careful to double check the TOS on both. And read up about on doing a site that is about someone else, because they can order it handed over in some cases.

I always go for Wordpress. It is easy to setup, easy to maintain, easy to blast content. Also there are plenty of themes for you to choose and fit your niche.

Even big business start to use wordpress. It is a wonderful platform for you to present your content and collect all other traffic resources.

The best route is always to code the site by hand from the ground up and include a custom CMS, but that does come at the cost of time and money. Since you don't plan to monetize the site and ease of use is probably #1 priority, WordPress is fine. It's not a bad idea to then expand the hobby into learning how to code the site yourself using HTML, CSS and PHP just so that you know how to do that sort of thing for the future.

They aren't using the stock version though. They strip the functionality down to include only what they need and add other things. There is also the "VIP" version. A self hosted license costs $15,000 per year.

WorPress is one of the most easy to use site builders. It is also very intuitive so you do not need to have a technical know how to learn how to setup your site.

I would recommend Wordpress, even though i'm not proficient with it. I think it's better for maintaining a blog, as opposed to constantly tweaking an instant site builder. Updating the instant site builder sounds like a programming job.

Remember - an instant site (especially a personality blog) may not be appropriate for your needs. Blog built around a 'community' which seems to be what you are suggesting, must be built as such go d a d d y's Instant Site Builder, now that from your description of needs, it isn't robust enough. If you choose them (would never be my recommendation for any except PROS) use their WP install feature.

As much as is in you right now, launch correctly which means staying away from FREE WP Themes and choose one which is community based.

the same here, i would vote for wordpress, for 1): it is seo friendly; 2): there are so many tutorals that you can easily train yourself; 3): nowadays everyone and his dog are building site on wordpress, so wordpress developers are busy to pump up all kind of themes, plugin to make your life easier or make your website prettier. You have much more flexibility. It is a huge perk in long run.

Wordpress is the way to go if you have no experience building a site and want to get the project started quickly, in theory you could have a website up and running within a few hours. If you have the content ready it's simply a case of copy and paste and you are good to go.

Some of the instant builders are decent but if they linked to your web host it can be a pain if you ever move web hosts.

    Wordpress for sure.

My preference is to stick with pages instead of posts if you are looking for a "website' where CMS counts more than blogging

I prefer using wordpress platform to build my all sites since I started with IM.

The available themes, plugins, widgets are 100% perfect for all relevant marketing strategies & these need to be applied from time to time, so I always chose WP

As you can tell, Wordpress is the favorite.

My advice? Don't just use Wordpress. Learn about how to BACK UP Wordpress! There are wolves in the world (hackers). So be sure you learn about how to back up Wordpress, and how to SECURE Wordpress so that your work is not interrupted. Nothing quite like going to your site and discovering it's no longer YOUR site, that it's been taken over or somehow desecrated by some inconsiderate @#$@$t%.

I would suggest you WordPress as CMS because it is just awesome. I have already running multiple WordPress sites/blogs that's why i am recommending WordPress. You should choose WordPress because it is:

    Open Source Software
    User Friendly
    Themes Support
    Plugins Extend Functionality
    Standards Compliant
    SEO Friendly
    Large community Support
