How can you find where on the referring page, an incoming link is coming from?

How can you check where all the inbound links are coming to from a site. I did a backlink check using the yahoo tool on a site with a PR5. I wanted to check where their backlinks were coming from. I went to the referring page as displayed by the yahoo tool but could not find the outgoing link anywhere on the page.

The tool said there was link coming into the page but when I looked on the source code of the referring could not find it. Can it be hidden? I used the Mozilla Find method. How can you verify where the link is on the page?

    Hi

If you have cpanel on your hosting package then you can check in awstats and all of your backlinks are listed in there.

If you are using a free host or do not have access to your stats then use Google Alerts (Google it!) that way you can keep track who who's linking to you allover the net.

    Kind regards

Thanks for your reply John that's useful. But I was also analyzing other peoples sites to see where they were getting their links from. Often times a link is listed as coming from a certain page but when I go to the page I can find the link.

    Hi

The tool I use for that is Seo Elite. It will allow you to check ever site in the top ten and find out who's linking to them.

It's very cheap for what it does. ($47)

    Kind regards

How often is this info updated? I've plugged in my URL's and the results have shown only 1 or two entries for my comments for each where I've done a heck of a lot of commenting on people's blogs the last 6 months.

Sorry to answer my own post but it seems that when I do a view source on the blogs that I've commented on they all contained the code "rel='external nofollow" even though they made your name clickable with your URL. So I guess i have to rely on people's curiosity when they see the link because it won't be indexed on the search engines.
