Hi Guys,

I'm wondering if there is a program out there which changes my recorded voice from British to American?

To cut a long story short, I want to record some audio for my website and don't want to hire an American to do the recording.

Thanks

Oz

    1) The obvious, hire an American. Anything that changes your accent is not going to sound very professional.

    OR

    2) Record in your own accent. Studies have shown that Americans actually trust British and Australian accents more so because they have a sense of authority to them. I am Australian and I always use my own voice for recordings because of this very reason.

You don't want to sound like just another YANK do you?!

WillR is right on ALL counts!

    1. You CAN'T just "change the accent"! The only way to do that would be to parse what you say, change the dialect, and then pronounce the words in an American way. It COULD be done, but is difficult, etc... FORGET IT!!!!!! TOO MUCH WORK/EXPENSE!

    2. A nice non american but NATIVE english accent comes off BETTER to americans. Irish, australian, british, new zealand, etc... is just BETTER. IF it is good.

Don't be a tight ass. Go and hire an American accent, it's the only obvious solution to your problem. It won't cost much. If you're too afraid to spend $10 on your business, then you shouldn't be here.

You could use voice morphing software, they have presets that allow pitch changes. But yeah it won't be profession.

Just go on fiverr and pay someone $5 to do it. Many people are offering this type of service.

Forget that voice morphing software, it will sound really lame and unrealistic. You're better off with your british accent.

You'd be surprised how inexpensive this can be. I hired a fellow Warrior to transcribe my main book because I wanted it in an educated American voice. The guy did a great job for me.

Recently, there was a fellow offering a voice-over as a WSO. He has a great voice and is very talented at what he can do with intonation - a recording professional I believe. I approached him about doing a different transcript and again, he quoted a very reasonable price.

Good luck finding that software. The software nowadays has a hard enough time understanding what we say, let alone translating it into text. Then, even if it does miraculously translate it perfectly into text, it will have an even tougher time making those words into spoken fluent English, instead of a computer voice.

Wait, there's actually software that can do that? Hmm. Well I'd still go with hiring an American to do the recording, makes it sound more professional than a program-altered voice.
