IM NEW TO IM an WORDPRESS ANY HELP IS WELCOMED.

I have been an avid reader of this forum for a while now and learned alot (MANY THANKS). I am now about time to take the plunge into making websites using HostGator and WordPress.

Im going to offer small local businesses a 1-5 page website at £50 and then £25 a month hosting. ( first 50 customers to take my offer get it at £50) Then price will increase to £100 - £150) what do you guys and girls think?

Also how do you collect monthly payments. I was thinking of Allowing the customer to pay by direct debit into my account every month as i dont think these people use paypal at all.

What business would be best for me to target, i am thinking maybe launderettes, painters and decorators, builders etc.

Any input that helps me with this is greatly appreciated.

    Hi there,

    Sounds like you've got a good plan there.

    As to which businesses to target - what businesses would benefit from a website? How would a website help a launderette for example? But it could help a pub, bar, restaurant, painter. People don't tend to go looking for launderette recommendation (I think) before going to one. You just go. However, people look for reviews and information on other types of businesses.

    As to payments - paypal allows you to accept credit cards which is good. Just be aware that some companies will refuse to do business with you unless you are a limited company (I've had this issue as have friends of mine).

    I think for small local companies you've got a good offer and need to get out there, sell it and see some results!

    i was using Launderette as an example of a service that would not really need much alterations after it was set up. Thanks for your advice Jason. Should i Set up my own website were poeple can pay online for the service or shall i use paypal separate as a way of setting up the payment ten it will automatically take payment every moth from customer.

    Sorry if this is a lame question this is all new to me.

    I have just read a post saying make a "mock" site and email it as a sample to prospected clients, this seems to be a great idea. could anyone give advice on easily creating a mock site using sub domains.

    "So I would create a subdomain (yourbusiness.mywebsite.com) and use wp twin to clone an existing customers website onto this new subdomain. Then I would just delete all the information, change the logo to a text that says "your business name" and sent the link to the business owner."

    How would i do the above if i was to try this method out.

    Don't just limit yourself by using direct debit.. Give your customers a choice, paypal is definitely one of the many ways to collect payment. Say you're offering a $30 per month hosting instead:

    For instance, you can give your customers a $5 discount every single month if they were to use paypal subscription to pay you (in this case: $25).

    If they were to pay you through direct debit payment then that will cost $30.

    I know you want your customers to pay you via paypal because you're able to keep track of records, it's convenient and the payment is automated. Give them a choice of paying $25 (through paypal) or $30 (through direct banking), most will want to go with $25 paypal instead.
