Does anyone know or recommend a free video creator software to make short videos, screenshots, etc. I was told Jingproject did a 5 minute video for free. I signed up for it, but am darned if I can find that on their site......really stumped.

    Try Animoto....works great.

Animoto videos are ok, but from my experience, they don't convert nearly as much as a video that shows the viewer " how to do something" or a "product review" video.

You will want to use microsoft power point or a free service called prezi to put together a presentation explaining how to do whatever or showing them a review of product you want to promote.

In order to record these presentation, camtasia is ideal , but you can also use cam studio which is free.

Animoto and Camtasia works well for me. But to look more professional try fiverr and hire some video pro to do your job.

I use avs video editor. The free version stamps ur vids with watermarks so I ended up getting the paid version it's like 60 bucks I believe.

    It's great and user friendly

This might sound weird but I've used powerpoint to create videos and it works out pretty well. There's a bit of a learning curve to figure out how to put everything together, but it's free, it's effective and it works!

Windows Movie Maker works great. It is one of the underused free software for making videos and it may well be already installed on your Windows PC. It is relatively easy to learn. However, if you are having difficulties learning the nuts and bolts, you could try this simple trick:

      1) Use Powerpoint to create slides
      2) Save each slide as an image
      3) Simply "stitch" them together in Windows Movie Maker (just drag-and-drop the images in)

I certainly agree with djax3000 that online services like animoto are not effective in creating videos that convert. They typically produce videos that look like spammy info-commercials.

      Hope that helps.

if you're using linux , openshot is pretty good.

I've tried another one for linux called Kdenlive , but that one didn't work well for me. It kept freezing up my computer for some reason so I deleted it and decided to stick with Openshot.

I'm using Camtasia, It's a great software to capture on-screen recording and edit videos. However, Camtasia is not free.

There's a free one: CamStudio and it work just fine in my opinion. (Unable to edit video, only record)

Some great recommmendations here, but dream3r and ebusinesstutor nailed it.

For a PC user who wants a free video creation software, there is nothing better than Windows Movie maker. You can use the free Audacity to record all of the audio you need and just import the audio track into Windows Movie Maker.

There are also lots of transitions you can do. It does have its limitations, but for free Video Software it cannot be beat!

When you are ready to spend some cash I recommend Camtasia 8 and Sony Vegas...
Or for a cheaper alternative, I use Snaggit all the time, and the latest version has video capabilities. It's made by Tech Smith , the makers of Camtasia...

Both will pay for themselves after one or 2 successful projects....

FYI: I think Tech Smith (makers of Camtasia) may have discontinued Jing...

animoto aint good for tutorials. quick on the fly creation of images and video pre edited. snagit or camtasia for capture of screen simple editing. then premier and after effects if you wanna step up a notch or hey go live. one on one tuts with skype screenshare, or better yet video conferencing video and screenshots live.

adobe does monthly subs for complete suite so well worth it
learn ae at videocopilot or videohive for precomposed ae projects.

and red5host for live videoconference. videowhisper products cover that area

other cool tips try out fiverr for elcheapo video ideas or get em made

Anyway, I really don't know but in the future if you are going to look for a site for recording this might help you. Screencast-O-Matic - Free online screen recorder for instant screen capture video sharing.
