I have read a lot in this forum that almost 99% of you recommend WordPress as the best CMS for almost any requirements.

Well, I believe so, given the experience with WP.

So, have you seen any websites that harness the power of WP?

Any websites that behaves like a normal, don't looks like WP, website and is powered by Wordpress?

Any e-commerce application powered by Wordpress?

  • You should try searching google for these questions, there are PLENTY of solutions. And yes, IMO WordPress is the best of all out there, especially the new 2.7 version, with powerful plugins
  • Hi Joseph,

WordPress is not the best CMS - It sucks as a CMS...

It has a few features which make it suitable for internet marketing like automatic pinging, it's fairly well optimized, you can get plugins to enhance usability etc.

  • Asking what is the best CMS system is a bit like asking what's the best way to make money... It depends on what you want to do.

A few popular CMS platforms are:
    Drupal
    Jaws
    Joomla

    • Agree.

Every platform has strengths and weaknesses. But you have to start somewhere.

I have focused on building websites using Wordpress (CMS themes) and SiteSells SiteBuildIt! I can quickly do what I need to do for my clients using these two platforms. How did I get good? Because I have spent way too much time in front of this computer, learning the software and the platforms.

So figure out your end result first, then find the best solution you can at the time. You will never figure it all out. You just have to focus on your goal (a website that sells!) and crank it out.

Pick a platform, build your site, and get good at doing what you do...

      Just a suggestion.

  • Yes, i agree with that. Nearly 90% of all my website are hosted with wordpress and It only take me less than 30 minutes to set it up and good to go.
  • I just love Wordpress and use it for absolutely everything I do because it's easy peasy to configure and you can get some fantastic themes that don't look like blogs.

The site in my sig is a Revolution theme that I turned a lovely shade of pink! ;-)

    • Michelle:

Do you know that the YouTube video featured on the home page of your website doesn't work? It says "We're sorry, this video is no longer available."

      Just an fyi...

  • I do all of my sites in wordpress now, and currently I'm now resurrecting older domains from a few years ago (from the directory generator days) and making them auto blogging sites using a few different plugins that work well with each other. Within a couple of hours I can take an old domain and make it into something that people would actually want to visit. The way WP lays out sites too is perfect for search engines to figure out what the site is about.

You just can't beat the power of Wordpress when there are so many free and paid plugins to make each site truly unique.
  • for newbie like me, wp still will be the chosen one. It easy to personalized.
