Where To Start

Hey all,

I am currently working on a second website that is dating related. I am using wordpress and I'm feeling a little stuck on where to begin.

The main thing is I'll be promoting an ebook I created. Should I have 5-10 pages of content on the site and the sales page? I'm also looking to build a list so should I have them enter their email address right from the start to get access to the content or just have it on the right column with a pop-up?

Part of this is thinking out loud while part of it is seeking advice from those who are wiser than me.

    Dating niches are pretty high converting in my opinion. You may almost not need that auto responder. I would recommend you to put it on the side to get more visitors in. If the content is rich enough that will keep the person on the page, than you can have those 5-10 extra pages. Check your stats later on to see how long people actually look at that content and go from there.

    I'm probably not wiser than you but I'll share my two cents.

    I would say the more content you can have on your site the better, because this optimises you in line with Google's panda update/webmaster guidelines. Single page landing page sites are all but gone from the search results. Authority sites with a lot of valuable content is the only way forward for gaining search traffic.

    However if you'll not be depending on search traffic in any way then you won't need as extensive a content library.

    Personally, I'm not a fan of wordpress - I know that's an unpopular thing to say, but just my view! In terms of ebooks there's a lot of free content out there and even for free stuff you'll need a compelling offer to get people to enter their details to download something. With a double opt-in and un-subscribe rate it can be hard work to build a list. In order to build a relationship these days I really think you need to offer something amazing, or at least in a different way to everyone else!

    Bro, you should create a niche site with about 3 - 10 posts and put a email optin box. Plus, when people want to exit, make a pop up where they can opt in as well. Then, you should just give them value over the next few days and sell them on a low priced offer. And repeat the process man.

    If you really want to succeed and have lots of sales. Here a my few tips :

    Build lots of quality content - Write at least 1 article per day for your blog.

    Social Marketing - Try to use all the social media channels you can to promote your eBook and blog posts. Social Bookmarks, Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook etc.

    Forum Marketing - find lots of forums on related niche, write quality posts, promote with a link in your signature.

    Affiliates - Get affiliates so they can promote your eBook to their traffic channels.

    Build an email list - Attract visitors to opt-in to your email list with free tips, free reports etc.

    Hello,
    I've just been thjinking about your question and the facts given to you and I have a problem - traffic! Right after putting up your website, you kind of have to decidew which way you'll go for visitors (SEO, affiliates, paid, etc.). nce you know that, it will help you choose the size of content and of how and when to capture e-mails.

    The traffic problem is easily solved if you look in the right place.
    I'll just put something out there and let you figure it out...

    Don't you think there are others out there that are selling dating ebooks? I do!
    What would happen if you were to get 4 or 5 of them to put together a package of ebooks and sell them for one low price?

    You become the vendor, the product creator becomes the affiliate. They make more, you make some (and build a list), and you're product gets out there in a big way.

    The creators who submit products for the package all mail for the launch.

    It's called a "circle launch" and it works every time. It's how I've been making my full time living online for the past 6 months.

    Here's what I'd do:

    Find out who my competitors are

    Study their keywords and their content strategy / Study their traffic patterns

    Figure out what they are doing RIGHT and what they are doing WRONG: this applies to SEO, content strategy, content quality, and how they are recruiting list members

    Design my site from the ground up with a close fit between: site design, branding, and content

    Start traffic generation by building where they get their traffic and branching out from there

    Focus on getting traffic first, put your email collection page in an inner page. Make sure your theme pushes people there.

    Once you are getting enough traffic, invest in a popup script that pushes the opt in box to your reader after they've been reading your content XX minutes.

    I would make it a two prong approach.

    I would focus on those PUA dating forum sites. Add value first and answer questions. then drop your sig with link to your site. Here is a list:

    SECOND post on your blog targeting keywords in super specific sub niches in your niche. talk about a famous pick up artist (google keyword the pick up artist name and write your content around that keyword)

    Set up your Squeeze page on your domain and set up your blog area with your optin box on the widget side above the fold.

    OPTIONAL: PLENTY OF FISH paid traffic. Specify your target audience and hit them with banner ads.

    This is all good stuff. Thanks for the input, everyone. Especially like the techniques of DanielleDeHann and aizaku.

    The biggest thing is traffic, links and creating that buzz.

    One of the sites I'm using as an examples is Official Double Your Dating | David DeAngelo's Double Your Dating. Eben Pagan has made millions from this niche and I'm this as my example.

    Aizaku, I had no idea there were that many forums on PUA. How did you search for these types of forums? Was it a simple "pua 'forums'" search with "forums" in quotes?
