Can the Verified Opt-in Be Switch Off on Aweber?

Hey Everyone,

I noticed when marketers do a product launch and you opt-in for updates that there is no opt-in confirmation email...just the updates.

Someone told me that you can switch the verified opt-in to off. Is this right? How can it be done?

Go to List Setting > Verified Opt-in

The first option is to turn off or on the verified opt-in for web form submissions. You just need to set that to Off.

I believe once you turn it off you can no longer turn it back on.

I know this is the case with my account. I am actually on the verge of switching services so I can go back to single opt in.

I spoke with their support and they told me I will have a clear list blah blah blah.

Anyway, I have built a very substantial list using double opt in, but am losing around 30% of subscribers due to this process.

  How long have you had your account? Also, are you using the upgraded statistical version or are you still on the old pay scale?
  
  I find it very strange that I cannot turn mine on and off and other people can. My list is in very good standing and I never go over the allowed number of spam complaints, and that is if I get any at all.

According to Aweber's knowledge base here...

Is not an option to turn off confirmed opt in.

My guess if you can you must have been grandfathered in and have had the account for a very long time.

Or you are just really special.

But, I think you're right about the grandfathered part. I've got an account that's a couple of years old, and I haven't updated to the newer system yet because the current one is working just fine for my small lists right now.

It's just a link. If you currently have it turned on, the link will be on the word "ON". If it's off, then the link is on "OFF". Just click the link and it will flip the switch.

It's under List Settings -> Verified Opt-in - change status to "OFF"

But I couldn't find it,
