Hi Sue,

I don't think there are any tutorials

I managed to work out how to use the program by printing out the instructions and going through them step by step (in case you hadn't noticed they are in the help menu).
I have managed to use the program to bookmark all of my website's so if you have a specific problem or get stuck on anything I can probably help.

Just checked and there is nothing in the HELP part except for links to Incasoft, traffic mania and to sell SocialBot, this is version 4, Carol do you still have version 3? perhaps the help button is different in each version.

  I managed to figure out the socialbot v4 without the help, just by poking around for a while.
  
  You can set up multiple company profiles, which is good if you are managing the social bookmarking for... well multiple companies with multiple accounts. I've read that people like to set up 5 accounts or more per website, but that's an insane amount of work, and I'll probably hire that out if I can ever the the program to work properly for me.
  
  Once you set up your company profile, you have to enter in your account information to each of the social websites you want to use.
  
  After that, go to "sites" in sites you enter in your website address, and then click spider. The program will spend about 5 minutes or so spidering your website and building a database of all the available pages.
  
  Next you go to "pages" and click the individual pages you want to submit. It automatically fills in the info for each page, or you can change it. You can click on the "advanced" button and enter in additional titles and descriptions which will randomly be rotated into the submissions. (this is the coolest feature)
  
  Once you set up what you want, check the boxes for the pages you want to submit and then click "submit" and it should do its thing. Windows will open and close, and it will automatically submit your site to all the directories, pulling up the captcha when it needs to be entered. In theory.
  
  The program isn't working quite right for me at the moment, it hangs on most of the websites and won't get past the logon screen for many of them. I'm sure they are working on it though. This program has the potential to totally rock, especially since they added the bigger social sites with this new version.
  
  It looks like you can schedule the program to only submit a certain amount of bookmarks per day, but I haven't figured that part out yet.

John thank you, I finally found it, like an idiot I was clicking the drop down arrows and didn't think to click on the actuali icons themselves! Duh!! Teach me to start things when I am tired LOL

Received the update email today (thanks guys for that, fast work).

Trouble is I don't quite understand the instructions in the email, perhaps because I am new to using SocialBot.

This is what it says in the email:

To obtain the update, visit the URL below and save the SocialBot.zip file to your computer. Then, unzip the SocialBot.exe file to your installation folder and you'll be all set

So have visited the URL, saved the zip file and unzipped it but it is the last part I don't understand how that gets the update into my SocialBot, sorry to be dense.. this bit:

"Then, unzip the SocialBot.exe file to your installation folder and you'll be all set"

er which installation folder, do you just mean the folder on my computer where they are all stored or do you mean I need to open up socialbot and do something in there.. sorry for my blond moment, can anyone tell me what I need to do?

yea he means the folder it installed the program in on your computer. there should already be a socialbot.exe there, replace it with the new file.

New version seems to do a lot better. Still hangs on some of the big ones for me like Mixx and Folkd. Which is sad cause those are my two favorite services. But I can't complain I guess. I got RSSbot and Directorybot too, and let me just say I'm super happy with those!

i just bought incansoft's main 3 products (rssbot, directorybot, socialbot), and I was never this happy with my purchase. With a little setup of the profiles/accounts, it can actually replace senuke in terms of bookmarking and rss submission.

overall, i was impressed with big mike's products. thanks.

I don't get up highway 3 much, but I recently heard there's a cool place for off roading out by Tahuya. Since there are also some good little fishing lakes out there, I'll probably shoot up that way a couple of times this summer.

Do you know any other IM'ers up that way? Maybe we could do a local meetup.

Socialbot V4 has lots of new features, and I must say I am impressed! However, I wish they added more automated account creation tools, that is a necessity for working with bookmarking sites without easily get banned.

If they can add more support to proxy (not sure in this version), and some way to auto bookmark other sites using RSS or other better ways to minimize self promotion footprint would be a big plus...!

I'm sure big mike will continue to improve this software, I like the added support for more bigger authority sites in ver 4.0, and the account management has improve.

Recommended for serious marketer, save a lot of time.

I had been using SocialBot v3 successfully for many months. It worked fairly fast and reliably. I especially got great results with submissions to StumbleUpon.

I just installed SocialBot v4 yesterday, although there are some GREAT improvements (not the least of which are the added authority SB sites), there are some problems.

On my first trial run of v4, it worked completely for SB sites: Backflip, Bibsonomy, Diigo (although I had to manually click the submit button for each page), Spurl, and Technorati. It worked partially (6/10 pages) for Blinklist.

It failed completely (0/10 pages) for SB sites: Mister-wong, Simpy, StumbleUpon, Yahoo, and del.icio.us. And in some cases (Mister-wong, StumbleUpon, and Yahoo), SocialBot reported a status of "Completed".

Plus, it seems to run alot slower. Probably in part because it is not readily responding to some of the SB dialogs.

I have reported these problems to Incansoft, and Michalis (one of the principals), has responded that they are working on it.

I hope they can get this fixed, especially StumbleUpon, or I will have to regress back to v3.

Also, I am not clear on how you associate a particular Company Profile with some collection of sites. Can anyone clarify that?

I had version 3, but never really got round to using it before version 4 came out. I'm having the problem of it hanging when submitting to sites. I've tried it 4 times today and each time it's failed on different sites. It's getting very frustrating because it could be an awesome tool.

I'm having the same experience with it waiting on certain sites for me to plug in something manually, or move to a different page than the one it's landed on - then it keeps running automagically. Unfortunately it's not the same site every time that it stops on! So it does still need babysitting.

I would like to be able to set up several sites to bookmark one after the other automatically (a few pages on each) but it seems to only do one site at a time. Is there a way to do that, anyone know?

You can create a new profile with just the Social sites that work fully automatically and just submit to that profile without having to babysitting for that profile.

If you only do the fully automatic sites you miss out on some of the high page ranked sites.

Another problem is that I'm getting the thread aborted before it's finished submitting to that profile.

I've contacted Big Mike about this and it will probably turn out that's it's me whose screwing up.

I have read the tutorials and seems to me that it submit websites but there was no mention on submitting articles. Wish to make use of socialbot to submit articles that I have submitted to ezine. Is it possible?

Yes, you just manually add your article pages as a site and a page in that site rather than letting Socialbot spider it.

I guess I neglected to mention the other part - you make another profile with the ones that need manually attention.

You can submit to the "automatic profile" and go on and do other things until it finishes. Then you can submit to the "manual profile" when you have the time to babysit it and manually respond. Time consuming and a bit of a pain, but at least you can proceed with your promotions.

What I have found is that every component on the page details needs to be filled in (keywords, etc) although there are still a couple of problems with socialbot not logging in to some sites, but not always the same sites.

I'm sure it will be sorted out.

RSSbot is pretty dang good. It submits to some of the good directories I like. I use it in conjunction with RSSsubmitter and between the two, I think I've got my bases covered... maybe double teamed.

I just purchased RSSBot but it does not come with tutorials.
The help section does not explain the software as well.

I just bought all 5 of Big Mike's "bot" software yesterday (for $7.77 each, why wouldn't I?), and found the online help files to be good in stepping through the set up and use of each of them.

Also, so far, this software has proven to me to be a huge bargain. I recommend it highly.
