Clickbank / Sales and use Tax and Withholding Tax

So this business lifestyle is going great. Love the work, love being my own boss, love providing value to others, but this is one thing I am really lost on.

Clickbank and sales tax.

I got an email from department of revenue services saying that my
Sales and use tax form
Withholding tax form
...Are both due soon.

Do I need even need these selling / affiliate on clickbank?

I can understand if I had a grocery store selling groceries or whatever, but from what I thought, doesn't clickbank handle all of that tax stuff?

  • no clickbank does not handle it. you need to pay tax on your earnings. you can also claim business expenses to reduce the amount of tax you pay.

Thanks for the replies, I have yet to make 500 yet but

Isn't Sales and use tax form and Withholding tax form both more for selling goods or services? I had those for my personal training business and now I'm left wondering if I need to use / keep them.

Part of doing business is paying for expert services when you need them. Get to a lawyer to set up your business properly and hire an accountant to answer these questions for you.

Sales and use taxes vary from state to state. What items are taxed and who is responsible for collecting the tax are different in almost every state. You should find an accountant in your state who can help you on the sale taxes.

James, this is the best answer. When it comes to concerns like yours, it's always best to consult someone who is an authority for that matter. We can always share our own beliefs but it may not always be accurate as far as legal matters are concerned.
