Advice required for a newbie

Hi. My 1st post on the forum so be gentle.....

I have set up my own website in the UK & have a PPC campaign also that gets me work but I would like to get onto page one with my site without having to pay for PPC.

It's not an afilliate site or anything like that it's just a website that sells doors in a specific part of the UK.

I supply & fit the doors so any work gained by me is labour intensive but worth doing.

Can someone point me in the right direction regarding what services I should subscribe to on here or be looking at.

My website is uk based and called verysecuredoors & I'm currently on page 3 & 4 of Google for the key word "rockdoor" & "rockdoors" but I want to get on to page 1 so I can drop the PPC.

Thanks in advance

All comments welcome.

Jim

    Hi Jim

    Well done for jumping in.

If your site is the .co.uk domain, it looks very professional, so well done!

With regard to improving your rankings, try to get your site listed in, and linked from, any relevant sites you can find. Focus on relevance; you don't want just any links. You want relevant links i.e. sites that are concerned with the subject of doors and security.

Look for opportunities to write for well-established sites within your niche that allow you to include a link.

    Good luck.

    Will

You could submit articles about rockdoors to article directories or build a squidoo lens and put a backlink to your site. Also upload a video to youtube and put a link in the description back to your site too. There a probably guys on here that will make videos for a good price or try Prezi and make your own. The more relevant links pointing at your site from trusted sites the better.

I'd suggest you start by targeting local keywords - "rockdoors derby", "rockdoors Nottingham", etc. Set up your Google places page for your home location. Make sure you fill it in as fully as you can. There are no Google places results for Rockdoors Derby (or Nottingham) and G places will return up to 7 results. So this suggests there is an open opportunity for you to be first.

Just out of curiosity, have you done any offline marketing? Flyers, advertising, business cards, etc? If you haven't, that's a good idea and very simple to pull off.

I think you should try out video marketing. It would actually be EASIER in your case because maybe you could show some basic tutorials of the work put into the door process. Basically teaser videos that will interest people and show that you put effort into what you do.

Once you have a few videos made, you could post them across forums and video directories and the obvious places like YouTube and Vimeo. Some simple videos can get you far so I'd give it a shot if you're not too camera shy.

Say you had a YouTube channel with some videos on it, you could easily post the site on the description to each video and things of that nature. With proper optimizing and keyword selection, your videos can show up on page 1 of Google as well.

      Thanks for all the input.

I will learn & digest what I can advice wise.

Off to London tomorrow for the day then back to this topic. (My Lad is into supercars & likes to spend the day round knightsbridge & harrords etc..looking at the cars).

      Cheers
