Hi, I've formatted my computer because it would not work at all now it is working very slow, I need some antivirus can anybody recommend any? How can I speed everything up? im useing vista.

    Vista is a white elephant. Please make sure you have the recommended hardware. It needs atleast 1 GB RAM to work reasonable fast.

    Since you mention you have already formatted the disk, I dont see any reason of virus attack on a formatted disk unless a USB pen drive was used immediately. If you are looking for a free anti virus, look for AVAST. There are many others as well equally good.

    By the way, if possible switch to Windows 7 or 8 asap.

    Please make sure you have the recommended hardware on the computer. It needs atleast 1 GB RAM to work reasonably fast.

    Im sure antivirus will help since you mentioned hard disk is already formatted. But still if you would like to try. Check out Avast.

    I suggest switch to Windows 7 or 8 sooner.

    The best way to speed up Windows Vista is to get Windows 7. I hated Vista with a passion.

    How much RAM do you have? If your computer has Vista on it, it's probably time for a new one anyway.

    As for antivirus, try Avast - that's one of the least memory hungry.

    I have to say one of the best antivirus software I have used is kaspersky so I would Recommend that to you but I know why your computer would be slow.

    Are you sure it's a virus?
    It might be a hardware-related issue, if it slows down.

    Is it old?
    Did you format the entire HDD? Do you have multiple (physical) hard disks?

    Join some PC tech-related forum and ask there, better...
