Lost 28 Pounds in weight - How would you market it?

Hi Everyone

In a 16 week period I lost 28 pounds in weight, kept it off using changed I made to my eating and lifestyle.

I have created a small website on how I did it, but wondering how you think I should monetise it?

I don't have any traffic yet as I am undecided how to progress with it

Many Thanks everyone

Rob

You should perhaps ask proffesionals, see what they think about the wonderfull progress you've made and whether many people have done it before or not.

    Congratulations, by the way.

Well first, Congratulations on your weight loss success!

I lost 22lbs in seven weeks by eating less and exercising more plus drinking a lot of green and fruit smoothies with lots of added fiber to curb my appetite.

In this post I'll give you a good basic marketing plan that works if you work it.

Start by creating a signature file with your URL in it so the next time you write a post, people reading it who are looking to lose weight can be attracted to it.

It's a very competitive market but if there was ever a sure thing in this world it would be that everyone wants to be skinny and everyone wants more money!

Then, create a weight loss ebook and sell it on clickbank.

Next, get some business cards and flyers made up (see samples below) carry them with you everywhere and use them to promote your weight loss ebook or product as Dale Calvert suggests in the below video.

Something that I do that is very effective is to invest in a good digital projector and go to: Brave New Theaters and start showing the Movie "Simply Raw" and giving free green smoothie demonstrations in health food stores and fruit and veggie shops. See the below video and Green Smoothie Challenge

Put posters up advertising the free movie night 30 days before the show date and offer free admission. Put your contact phone number on the poster and set up a landing page. Instruct people to go to the landing page to book their free tickets as seating is limited and only those with a ticket will be admitted. Tell them to get a babysitter and leave the kids at home... no one under 18 please. (One crying baby can ruin the movie for those in attendance) This gets a lot of people to come. It's good for the health food shops and the fruit markets and is good for you!

Print and mail your tickets out 3 days before movie night>

After the movie... give a short talk about how you lost weight and do a free green smoothies demonstration and tasting. Whatever weight lost books or products you are recommending... have set up on a display table so people can purchase.

Then get permission to show other health related movies like "Sick, Fat and Nearly Dead" Wash, Rinse and Repeat.

This will attract an endless flow of prospects to you!

      Cheers,
      Steve

You should study the sales funnels of information products that are at the top of the weight loss game. Just go to ClickBank and you'll notice a whole whack of them at the top of the marketplace.

The first thing you need to do is figure out a USP... (Unique Selling Proposition)

Meaning, what sets your method apart from others being marketed? Whats your hook? What's YOUR story?

You need to take your time and find solid answers to those questions otherwise you'll just be another tired weight loss product.

    Hi Rob,

If you managed to make a video of your improvement from the 1st day to the end when you lost that amount of pounds could help you? How, when you do it and upload it in youtube, put your website in the description, it can give you a lots of traffics. Just use the Youtube as a traffic source to your website, since it is easy to rank. Use this technique below, it's not mine but could help you.

Firstly Congratz! Secondly in all honestly, marketing the results is part of it, but it's not the end all. Marketing the pain, or marketing to what the person is missing out on because he or she is overweight is more important. Just my two cents!

The market for weight loss products is pretty competitive. This is one saturated niche that will make it quite impossible for you to be able to monetize your site. Maybe you can write some free report and advertise your site to another platform so you can have start gathering some traffic. Only then will you able to know if you can profit from it or not. Goodluck and congratulations on your successful weight loss!

I call BS on this one... The market is saturated for a reason - PEOPLE BUY EVERYTHING. It's not impossible to launch and make a good income from weight loss related material at all.

Listening to MA Robinson's advice is lunacy at best. When people are passionate about something they just don't buy ONE thing on the subject, they buy THEM ALL.

People looking to lose weight are desperate and have bought multiple products, books, tapes, DVD's, equipment, memberships, etc. The reason why this industry produces $20 BILLION dollars every year is because there are more than 100 MILLION dieters who buy more than one of these solutions on weight loss.

If they didn't the industry wouldn't be worth so much!

This advice is garbage. Impossible? If people are spending money in a market, and there's competition, you will actually have the opposite of impossible. You should have no problem making money in this market.

OP: Be careful of what advice you listen to here. A lot of people will post stuff that they really have no idea about what they're talking about like the above. You should be able to create some kind of product out of your results and have no problem selling it!

I'd write an ebook of your recipes and activities, sell it cheap or give it away free from yor web site and build a list from it. Then you have a targeted list of people that want info on how to lose weight. You can then market to that list by email with affiliate links etc.

Do keyword research for weight loss terms that relate to how you lost weight and write content around them and post to your blog. Go to Clickbank and find a product that closely models the way you lost weight and market that on your site using banners and a review post. Then take the keywords that you researched and create some videos and put those up on Youtube.

Of course each one of the above steps require a little work but they do all work. You could also create a free report of your daily routine and give that away. Once you have these people on your list you could update them weekly on your progress. This will build trust then start reviewing products that would help them lose weight.

    Congrats on your weight loss.

I really think that you should create your own product. Get someone to write you the copy and do the graphics. Then when that is ready, apply at Clickbank as a vendor and then create your own affiliate program.

When your site is ready to go live, make sure that at the bottom of the sales page you add "Join Affiliate Program" so that people can sell your product and earn you more income.

This is going to take a little while to set everything up but it can be all worth it long term.

You could write a report of the most important things you have learnt when loosing weight or what have been the most effective actions. You could use it as a free gift and build a list from it.

Additionally, right after people subscribe, you could present them with a one time offer that promotes a product related to weight loss.

In the long run, whether you decide to make a longer version of your report or promote an affiliate product, you would already have a list to market to.

Hi Rob, Congrats. I put a lot of thought into this so I hope it helps.

#1 Instead of celebrating pounds you could celebrate the number of complements your members get. They can report it in an easy iphone app and also during #2.
#2 Use Indian sales force to call up members to pressure them about losing weight. Sell it as a unique sales proposition (the follow-up).
#3 enforce positively people talking about your service/product when they get asked about how much weight they lost.

Here is the idea – don’t rely on seo right at first. Go for the grass roots. This is what I mean, I had at least 4 people tell me today that I was “looking good” because I have lost 55 pounds. People always ask me, how did you do it? If you have a group of guys out there spreading the word you will get found. What if your unique sales proposition isn’t so much your process as your reporting. Instead of celebrating pounds you could celebrate the number of complements your members get.

Start your own blog and podcast. You could sell an ebook with food plans (like written plans). Step by step instructions then sell them via affiliate links. Guest post on blogs and guest interview on podcasts. Do a press release about your results. Why are you different from the others out there? If your process involves a plan hire someone on Indian craiglsist to call all your subscribers every week to report their progress. This will motivate them or at least it will be a unique selling proposition. Then when you have a group of guys that have lost weight they will start talking about it, why?, because people ask!. I've lost a lot of weight and I know, people will start asking them, "hey, how did you lose all that weight" they will say it was you and give them a card with a coupon on it or at least train them on what to say when people start asking. You can make that a big deal on your site. Instead of measuring weight you can measure how many time people complement them on their weight. That way it happens people will automatically think of your product and spread the word.
    Hope that helped!
