Of course product reviews mixed in with affiliate programs work. But its a massive market out there. How will you stand out? Whare are your fortes? Your writing style/quality? Or your know-how about the products. Think about this first.

Hey zack,

Ive checked out your site ... i am guessing your site is an affiliate site?

The best way to build a list is simply give something away for free, ( ebook, videos, audio ). Place your free gift on your home page on the right hand side, place an image showing the free gift and a call to action. ( TEST this and see how well it converts )

The how to videos will certainly attract traffic, if you place them on you tube and link them to your site. But make sure your vidoe's give value.

But make sure you do TEST TEST TEST.

Also use a autoresponder to build the list .... there are a variety out there, try get response, aweber, icontact etc ... Aweber is my preference but everyone is different.

I was going to do that actually! I have aweber for the autoresponder. I was thinking of doing how to videos and Guides as well as product review of computer parts. I have to test, test, and test I guess to find out don't I
