Does anyone know of this resource?

Evening all,

I'm looking for a website/directory where I can search businesses by market, location, revenue, employees etc. I've run into a few free ones, but they're pretty useless. Does anyone use a reliable resource they could suggest?

Another thing I've been trawling the web for is a site or company that offers business statistics/case studies. Somewhere you could go to find out "the amount of new beauty salons that go bust in their first year," for example.

I might be typing the wrong things into Google, but I can't find anything tangible.

Thanks folks!

that's pretty detailed stuff. i don't know about finding that kind of info online, but i have had that kind of market research done for me through my local SBA office. you might want to look into that.

I am not sure if you can find that details about companies. Also if you could not find it when you google it, not sure you can find it. Google has pretty deep database.

The only one I know of that even comes close is Company Profiles & Company Information on Manta

Not sure if it'll give you all the info you need, though.

[EDIT] In terms of finding businesses that went out of business, the Dept of Labor would have stats on that. You might have to contact local state Dept of Licensing for businesses opened, etc.
