suggestions on what to do about a new list?

Hi --

I have a list that I've built over the last year (I knew I should build a list, just didn't have the time to do anything with it )

Anyways, some addresses are old/haven't been contacted in the past year. What would you suggest is the best way to 'warm up' users to my list, and/or any special offers you would suggest I give (like right away, or wait a bit, or what?)

Thanks!

Johnathan

It kind of depends on your relationship with that list to begin with.

I once went 7 months without contacting one of my lists, and when I sent an email 7 months later, still got great response from it. Most people just remembered me I guess.

Definitely do not send a sales pitch as the first new contact with them. Send a couple of really good content pieces first.

I'd also recommend starting out the email mentioning the fact that you haven't emailed them in a while, and possibly include the reason why. I told my list I hadn't emailed them because it was summertime and I was out having fun swimming and playing around instead of sitting inside typing emails on the computer - which was true!

I apologized for being "selfish" and goofing off instead of giving them the tips they wanted and signed up for, and said I was going to make up for it by sending some extra good tips over the coming weeks.
