Average Conversion from Subscribers to Sales?

Hey all!

Now,

I know there is no such thing as THE AVERAGE conversion rate.

But here's what I'm asking:

Based off of your experiences with your own list of subscribers, what would an average conversion be in terms of turning a subscriber into a paying customer?

1%? 10%?

Any input on this would be great.

I understand with so many diverse markets we could be factoring in that the average could range drastically. But I'm working on a few spreadsheets that will help me get some ball park percentages and any input would be accepted. Thanks!

I think depending on the kind of traffic, your niche, etc. I have in one of my funnels a $1 trial for 7 days that is converting at 5% with cold PPC Facebook traffic.

They vary from niche to niche. But before you get to conversions rate what is your open rate and click through rate? In the IM niche the open rate should be 15 to 20 % and click through should be around 17%.

Sometimes you can't get that, period. Email marketing is challenging. But profitable. I try to take my time a craft a story based email to send to my list.

In the past, would just try to sell and sell but that didn't work. Now I try to help and help. Well I guess you could say I learned the hard way!

Right now my conversion in terms of opt-ins is no less than 30%. I'm sure it can vary but that's about the average.

Good! One thing I learned from Clayton Makepeace every step is copy writing or tell a small story even in your email marketing. If I were coaching you I would tell you to test a strong call to action on a couple of your post.

What I mean is "read more" is like "click here" is somewhat standard.

          Example:

"Why wait when you can get started right away? Get your free report instantly when you can download it now!"

    Hello,

According to my information and experience a conversion rate of 3% is normal...but you can improve this number by changing some factors on your strategy and testing every time you change something!

    Thank you,

My prospect lists convert anywhere from 1% to 15% a lot of it depends on the price

If i create a pre launch list from my current complete list of subscribers my conversions will
    be between 30% - 60%

    Pre launch lists rock :-)

I heard from a IM friend of mine that, "A healthy opt in rate is 40-50%, conversion rate is 1%, Open rate is 10% and click thru rate is 5%." is it true?

If your are marketing the Opt-in correctly before they arrive to the Opt-in box. But 40% is cool. But the conversion rate is a little low. Based on my experience, some part of my list ignore me sometimes.(LOL)

Paul Hancox wrote an e-book about 10% conversion rate. Pick-up a copy and read it, you won't be sorry. I promise.

For all the opportunities that I have sold over the years whether they were affiliate programs or MLM, here are my numbers.

Usually I would get 1 new customer for every 50 opt ins if I was in MLM.

Regular affiliate programs would sit between 30-50.

Some other opportunities I would get 1 sale in 70-100 opt ins.

Yes, I know that this is not so good but these were my numbers.

Depends on many different factors but the major one
]is price point. You'll expect to get higher conversions
for smaller prices than higher ones. But in the IM
arena 3% for a $50 product is pretty decent.

When you start quoting >$100 then conversion
drops off accordingly. A 1% conversion on a
    $1,000 product deserves a party.

In the past, training suggests the Opt-ins come one at a time. But in the twenty first century things have changed. Study everything you can get your hands on about list building. Conversely, you must have a steady flow of fresh leads going through your funnel daily. (50-100)

Based on my past experience, list building is not as simple as giving away a free gift and you are on your way. You need a front end product to give away and leads to a high converting squeeze page. However, if you are not good at writing pay someone to do it for your business.

The biggest mistake I see is people trying to run a business by themselves. Try to discipline yourself to engage in activities that you are good at and efficient. Passion and interest doesn’t count!

Having said all of that then you read somewhere one of the perceived gurus comes along and try to sell you something that is fast and easy and will solved all your problems. Don’t believe that “BS”

I’m not talking about the old timers here. They are comfortable doing things a certain way and are reluctant to change. But we are moving from “The Information Age” to “The Attention Age”. So you better pay attention or you’ll get left behind.
