When I need something quick done. Nothing beats Fiverr.

For bigger jobs I use freelancer.com and odesk.com.

I would say a website that screens clients would be nice. Some clients expect to pay you peanuts and get a lot of stuff. It's just not fair. Of course, fast payment would be great too. I personally find oDesk to be a very client/contractor friendly website, but they do need to screen out some ridiculous clients.

A good freelancing site should have the following qualities:

*Doesn't charge you to bid on jobs. That is important as it hinders the bidding process.
    *Easy to navigate.
*Lets you tailor the types of jobs you want to be offered and NOT see ones that you have no interest in doing.
    * a site that doesn't allow people to offer jobs a if they only wish to pay $2-$10 total for any sort of job. Most jobs are worth decent money but some are so stupid because of the prices they allow.

I think Peopleperhour is quite great. It has a variety of job offers from different domains. The start is a little rough but once you get it going you will do great. Good luck!

Have you tried Fourerr.com. A lot like fiverr.com, but one dollar cheaper.

A site shouldn't charge you to ask questions as many jobs are very vague.
