Clickbank Tracking ID's

Hi,

I've promoted affiliate products and used a tracking ID (by going through their marketplace). But now I just finished my own product and I can't figure out how to add a Clickbank tracking ID to my own product. Can anyone shed some light on that?

Thanks!

      Thanks Terry

I also found this... I think if you add ?vtid=YOURTRACKINGID it'll track your own product. It would look like this:

      ITEM.VENDOR.pay.clickbank.net/?vtid=example

I just haven't tested it yet to see if it works. The only thing that stinks is you'd have to create a new sales page for each clickbank pay page (for each separate ID)

You can always be your own affiliate, and add TID's to the affiliate hoplink, if that helps? (You'll just get each payment divided between two accounts instead of all in one).

Thanks Alexa - I'm trying to avoid adding another account, if possible, but thanks for the suggestion.

        Hey Anthony

To track sales for your own product you can use tid

Your link will look like this

        http://ITEM.VENDOR.pay.clickbank.net/?tid=YOUR-TID-HERE

Doing this, the tid(s) you use will show up in both your clickbank Transactions and Analytics.

Cool, thanks - You don't have to add the 'v' before the 'tid' if it's your own product?

If I am not mistaken, vtid is used when affiliates are promoting your products.

            Like http://affiliate.vendor.hop.clickban...=AFFILIATE-TID

And in this case both vtid and tid can be used. vtid will show on the vendor account (vendor tid) and tid will show up on affiliate account.

                This is not correct.

tid and vtid have completely different functions.

tid is added to a hoplink and is used by an affiliate to track sales

vtid is added to a paylink and is used by a vendor to split test or compare different sales pages.

                .

Thanks for clarifying, Harvey - is this how you would use vtid?:

Anthony, sory about my wrong instructions. Harvey is right.

However, I do not understand why you need to create a new cb account to track you own sales.
As Harvey was saying, you can use vtid on your payment links to track different sources of your sales.

                  So why not use that?

You're right - That is what I'll do. As I see now, it works out to be like this:

1st option: Use the vtid on your payment link, but create a different sales page for each vtid

2nd option: Use one sales page, with multiple tracking id's by adding a 2nd account, and promoting yourself as an affiliate.

I'd rather go with the first, like you said - but the second is an option too, if you only want one sales page.

You would have to if you want to track your own sales.

yeah exactly, and the code http://ITEM.VENDOR.pay.clickbank.net/?tid=YOUR-TID-HERE will work in pretty much any situation for any CB product you want to track. You can also use any tracking software and see where your sales are taking place.

        hmm ...

I would still go with #1 (using vtid)

You don't need to create a new sales page for each vtid you want to use.
Following the steps below will get you going with a single sales page:

#1. Make your sales page a .php page (no changes required inside the page but updating file extension from htm(html) to php

#2. For the order link(s) use something like this
        http://ITEM.VENDOR.pay.clickbank.net/?vtid=$_GET["vtid"]

#3. When you are promoting your sales page, make sure to add ?vtid=Your-TID-Here at the end of the link
        (http://www.mywebsite.com/mysalespage.php?vtid=TID-Here)
