Should you put a disclaimer in your eBook?

Also if you reference another book is there anything that you have to do? I do not want to get into any legal troubles.

Thank you.

The answer to your first question is yes always as you have no responsibility for what action the reader takes or earnings they make.

As far as referencing is concerned I would say yes always to that to. You gain credit by giving credit.

Book title and Author should do the job.

Yes, put all the legal mumbo jumbo in to protect your backside.

If you reference other books, you should cite them in the footnotes and list them in the Bibliography section.

Depends on what your ebook is for!

If you're doing case studies, or showing MMO techniques, then yes you should have a disclaimer. If you have affiliate links then absolutely follow the FTC guidelines for testimonials and endorsements: FTC Publishes Final Guides Governing Endorsements, Testimonials

If you source materials then yes, you have to state where the information comes from. Otherwise you could be sued for copyright infringement.

Once you're done with your ebook, I recommend you run it by a professional editor familiar with copyright laws. They're easily found on elance.

It's much better to spend a few hundred on making sure you conduct yourself professionally, than tens of thousands in a copyright infringement suit.

I would always recommend using a disclaimer. Also if you want to quote others, it shouldn't be a problem as long as its just a general quote.

If you are stripping a lot from somebody elses work, just drop than email and ask them for permission. Its unlikely they'll say no, they'll just ask for a link/their name/website to be in your book for a reference.
