thanks for the suggestion, I applied and am checking it out.

He has several positive testimonials, but 0 quantified successful ones.

For example, No one has said: before Izzy I made x per month, after Izzy I make y in my pocket per month.

I've had coaches before, I don't have a method for determining whether they are good or not before getting their service.

Call me a bit ignorant, but what do you mean by a business coach? That brings too many different ideas.

I want a coach specifically to help me increase my business success.

They don't have to know anything about my business, but should know about some business.

This is the most important factor:
When I first started my own business I noticed that business owners think very differently from non business owners.

This is an example of what a business coach might do:
keep a time log for a day (be accurate and honest)
email it to me and we will ask for each entry:

What return do I get from doing this activity (financial, health, etc.)?

Is this the best use of my time?

If this is a necessary activity, is there a better, cheaper, faster way to do it?

      I know what to do

I know some of the questions to ask

Its hard coaching yourself, I just need a little coaching grease to go forward faster.

        T,

What kind of business coach are you looking for ?

How long are you looking to have them Coach you ?

What are your expectations of a Coach ?

What are you willing to put into coaching from a personal level ?

What is your budget ? This can make a huge difference cost vs time vs quality ?

How big is your buisness ? Web based ? Employees ? Approximate annual Gross sales ?

I could go on and on, if you could be a lot more specific in what it is your looking for not only could i respond better, but others will likely give you a lot better insight.
For Example- I coach 2 clients a month, if they fit my demographic, and can afford to pay in a timely manner. My Best friend is a Multi-Millionaire Coach and takes on 1 client per month, but that client is paying close to 25k a month. I have another friend who is a business coach only to companies or individuals who generate more than 5 million annual sales minimum.

Let me know, or let us know with a few more specifics.

        Regards,

          >What kind of business coach are you looking for ?
non fluff but also smart and flexible
          NT on MBTI,

          >How long are you looking to have them Coach you ?
forever? As long as they and I are happy with the relationship

          >What are your expectations of a Coach ?
          be able to communicate effectively
recognize then something is good and bad business wise
act as a focus force not a dissipation factor

          >What are you willing to put into coaching from a personal level ?
          everything

What is your budget ? This can make a huge difference cost vs time vs quality ?
I'd like to pay based on performance 10% of increase. Unlike most people this actually represents a good profit potential. For example, today I made 10 calls and now have someone signed up that should generate and extra $300 per week revenue for the next several years (it helps his business). One of my problems is doing what I've proven works or executing paths to get it done.

How big is your buisness ? Web based ? Employees ? Approximate annual Gross sales ?
just me, starting to outsource a bit, web based, its marketing for online and offline busienesses, gross sales last year about 30k

Yes and no. A successful business is comprised of an intertwined network of systems. Its important that your coach know what your business is about if he or she is going to help you. Not all systems work for all businesses.

If I'm going to help you I need to know what your business is, where its at now (both your evaluation of it and mine) and where you want it to be in a designated point in time (your goals).

The only way to help a business is to evaluate its present systems - fine tune, eliminate or recreate them and set up benchmarks for determining efficiency and success. All that requires knowledge of the business.

This doesn't sound like you are looking for a coach. Its sounds like you are looking for an employee. If you hire a coach you need to be prepared to do what they say. After all if you had all the answers you wouldn't need a coach.

Trust is a big part of this type of relationship. Questioning every move or tactic may not produce the best working environment.

In defense of coaches - its not easy to get results for someone if they are always questioning your methods. Some people have a self defeating attitude that sets themselves up for failure. It just so happens that the coach is the one who gets blamed.
Its like being on a bad date with someone who has had their heart broken. They want to be on the date but they have one foot out the door incase anything goes wrong. Of course having one foot out the door sets the date up for disaster so then it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

To be successful, either doing it by yourself or with a coach takes the right attitude. Luckily with a coach there is someone to give you a kick or push in the right direction but ultimately its your actions that make it a success or not.

I see this all the time with the coaching students I have. Some are very motivated but most need to be pushed and poked to accomplish their tasks. Where is your mind set right now?
I guess thats something you'll have to ask yourself before you hire a coach.

          T,
Ok read part of the info you posted, Its still so vague, hmmmm... sounds like your in the offline gold arena? You have to be specific about your buisness. I might be a good fit for someone like yourself, then again, without specifics i have no idea.

To better help you define what your looking for, your not looking for a Coach, you are looking for a Mentor, with a Millionaire Maverick Mindset. One who understands you, your business model, and results.

If you get a little more specific, and want to shoot me a PM do so. If not, i wish you the best in your search. Check my signature and read my blog, you can get some more insight to what it is i do.

Your local SBA office should be able to direct you to some local SCORE volunteers.

These are retired executives who volunteer to assist business.

Link to SCORE's website... dunno why their meta is screwed up... ???????????????????????????

thanks for the suggestion, I looked at the SBA and score several times and the quality of people I met was lacking, mostly retired corporate types, people that wanted to be listened to, they were successful employees, but not successful business owners.

The SBA gave me bad advice (badvice) several times. I did what they said and wasted time and money.

    Hi t!

My friend and colleague Andy H told me about your enquiry for a business coach.

I am an experienced business coach. One who has been in business for himself for over 20 years. My clients are primarily professionals and self-employed business people.

Happy to have a chat to see if there is a possible fit for your needs.

PM me at jeromehartigan if you are interested.

    Cheers Jerome
