Well you get what you pay for

I would recommend avoiding free hosting

I can't understand how $5 a month is too much to spend ... but maybe you should put things on hold till you can raise some capital to be able to get good hosting like hostgator.

    Just my 2 cents

You can find a coupon for hostgator where you can your first months hosting for 1c which is the cheapest you'll find. Their monthly bill for the Baby plan (the one you want) is $7.96 which I'm pretty sure you can find the cash for if you wanted - heck, you could write 3 or 4 articles on an article writing site to pay for that easily.

If you can't afford Hostgator then perhaps you are not ready for IM. You will not get better hosting for your money than HG and I've been doing this for 15 years.

I totally agree. However, if you really are struggling to make ends meet but would still LOVE to pursue IM, there are many legitimate and REAL ways to make some extra money online.

ilynreal, in case you're looking for them (you could make $5-10 within a few hours which would cover your hosting costs for a month... and more) here are the quickest and easiest places to make some extra money online:

        https://www.mturk.com/mturk/welcome

        Fiverr.com

        iWriter.com

        NeedAnArticle.com

Freelance-Writers.net (beware, hard to apply but AMAZING earning opportunities)

        QualityGal.com

        ConstantContent.com

Okay thanks for the advice. Anyway can i ask something?. What is the difference between them?. WEB HOSTING, RESELLER HOSTING, VPS HOSTING, DEDICATED SERVERS.
ilynreal, regarding your other question, here are some quick definitions:

WEB HOSTING: The ordinary hosting you and everyone else who has a website or blog uses. This is basically the place on some server where your site will be stored at (I guess you already knew that).

Reseller Hosting: Reseller hosting is a form of web hosting where the account owner (you!) has the ability to use his/her allotted hard drive space and bandwidth to host websites on behalf of third parties (like HostGator). The reseller purchases the host's services wholesale and then sells them to customers, possibly for a profit.
Bottom line: This is obviously NOT something you need, since this is a business opportunity itself, and not a hosting opportunity (here, you would help others host their websites on your servers, get it ? :-) )
If you'd like to learn in more detail how this works, just visit HostGator's this page Reseller Hosting Plans - Web Hosting Packages with cPanel and WHM

VPS HOSTING: A virtual private server (VPS) is a virtual machine provided by an Internet hosting service (again, like HostGator). A VPS, although running in software on the same physical computer as other customers' virtual machines, is in many respects functionally equivalent to a separate physical computer, is dedicated to the individual customer's needs, has the privacy of a separate physical computer, and can be configured to run server software.
Bottom line: A VPS is an advanced form of hosting for more serious companies. In many ways, it's more secure and reliable than regular hosting, however, it's also more expensive ( VPS Hosting | Linux VPS Servers with cPanel from HostGator ). If you're just starting out, I'd recommend you start with a regular (shared) hosting, and as you get bigger, you could change to VPS or even...

DEDICATED HOSTING: Again, it gives you even more security and flexibility over shared or even VPS hosting. It's the most advanced type of hosting you can have (well, in most cases, that is).
However, I strongly advice AGAINST using a dedicated server when you're just starting out, since you could invest in WAY MORE USEFUL AND ESSENTIAL tools and resources, like a good keyword research tool, an autoresponder etc.... Again, I suggest you start with shared hosting and upgrade as needed (no downside to this technique)
Unless you want to pay $300 per month for hosting, that is: Dedicated Servers - Dedicated Web Hosting with Linux or FreeBSD ;-)

I hope that was a helpful explanation if you need anything more just ask me (even privately),
        Steve
P.S.: If you'd like to go with hostgator I have a personal coupon that can save you 25% (as opposed to %20 which is the regular coupon), and I'd be happy to share it with you. But of course I don't wanna force anything, so I leave it up to you! :-)

  • Find someone you know who has a reseller account with Hostgator, since that person could most likely be selling hosting services at lower rates than Hostgator's standard hosting accounts. You can even barter your services to get this hosting account from this person. Now your job is to find that person...

Definitely hostgator! I recommend it as the number 1 host provider to ALL my customers. Here are the biggest benefits

-cheapest service available (especially if you use coupons)

-simple, free, 1-click WordPress installation ( see video here)

-AWARD WINNING, amazingly friendly customer support LIVE (check it out here) -top-notch servers

And basically, there's nothing that HostGator lacks compared to other hosts. If you really don't like HG for some reason, BlueHost is many's favorite choice, too.
      Anyway, I'd still recommend HG.
      Hope that helps, Steve

What is your budget? You will save money if you can pay upfront for at least a year of hosting instead of paying monthly.

I stand behind Bluehost. I've had my blog spike in visitors on my $5 monthly plan and never had a problem. They are fast with any help I need, too. Good luck! Stay away from free hosting if you want to be serious about your site.
