own domains

I have a website but it is not my own. I have it through synthasite.com and it is a sub domain name. I have been looking into purchasing my own daomain name and they say that you should have more than one. In the beginning I am going to be an affiliate so I was thinking dawnsbusiness.com and dawnsbusinessonline.com. should they be similar or different or does it not matter. any in sight would be helpful

    My advice would be to get a domain tailored toward what it is you intend promoting unless you are hoping to brand yourself.

    eg if you intend promoting chocolate then have chocolate in your domain name as one of your keywords

    I second that. If I'm going to sell skin care products, I look for skincarereview.com or something like that. Keywords in the domain name gets higher rankings than no keywords in the domain name. A domain name is a fairly small investment to make if you really plan on selling those products.

    You would be better with a domain name relating to the market in which your are going to be marketing in. I think this is what they meant by you need more than one. If you were going to sell chocolates " dawns chocolates " would be a better name than dawnsbusiness. pick a name that is easy to remember, and easy to spell, use the radio test, stay away from productname4u.com type domain names.
