Problem with my Hosting Company about a plugin

Hello. I am using FatCow as my hosting company. And I want to use a wordpress plug in on my website. The requirements for plug in are
1) must be uploaded in "binary" format via FTP
2) ZendOptimizer must be installed.

I uploaded the plugins manually and tried to activate them. but i take error about Zend Optimizer.

"Fatal error: Incompatible file format: The encoded file has format major ID 3, whereas the Optimizer expects 2 in /hermes/waloraweb058/b421/moo.mywebsiteorg/wp-content/plugins/pluginname/init.php on line 0"

Then i contacted with my hosting company and i am copying and pasting all their answers to me here.

"your applicaton needs a higher version of Zend optimizer which is not available on our server. Hence, unfortunately, you can't use this plugin on our server or have to look for plugins that use the Zend optimizer that our server is running. "
"Adding the ZendOptimzer code will not upgrade the version of ZendOptimizer. Unfortunately, as of now we cannot provide higher version of ZendOptimizer. Hence, you cannot install the plugin that you are looking for. "
"We do provide Zend Optimizer v3.3.9 on our platform. We do support latest version in future and unfortunately, we do not have ETA for that. "
"We have already added the Zend Optimizer v3.3.9 Code in the php.ini file. We do support latest version in future and unfortunately, we do not have ETA for that. "

What should i do now ? I want to use the plug in but hosting company does not allow/support or help me to use the plugin. My subscription will end in march 2013 with them.

you have only 2 solution, don't use the plugin and stay at current host or move to another host that supports your plugin zend version

If the plugin was essential to my site i would move to another hosting

I had a similar problem with hosting from Magellan Commerce who where policing all software and telling me what I could and could not use on their server. I had spent hours talking to the plug in support people before we all realized it was a server based problem or rather the host blocking software they don't want on their server. Even though I had paid for the space.

If the plug in is not vital do without it but in the meantime find another hosting company because you can bet they will do it again with something else.

The plug in i want to use called MultiPress. It has 3 plug ins MultiPress Content, MultiPress Core, MultiPress Traffic. Maybe the hosting company i use do not allow autoblogging plugins ? I have never used any autoblogging plugins before so i want to see it on action for sometime, then decide to use it or not. I think i ll use it on another website with another hosting company.

Are you seriously asking that question? Your hosting company has made the position quite clear. They don't use the updated version of Zend.

It's YOUR online business that YOU have to run and YOU have to make decisions about.

You have all the facts you need to make a decision. Why do you think someone else should make it for you?

Is it so hard to install the updated version of Zend for a company that have a decent customer base ? This will cause to lose customer in future for them.

        Exactly.

They have weighed the cost of maintaining their software versions and providing the service they feel is best for their targeted customer base.

Since you obviously need services and resources that are outside their standards you can freely leave to a provider more suited to your needs.

As you said, it is an autoblog plugin. Many hosts don't like resource intensive autoblog tools on low-level accounts due to the potential drain on resources.

When searching for hosting, price shouldn't always be the primary deciding factor. You need to weigh the resources they offer, the scalability they can provide in the event your site becomes a popular monster, and the customer support they offer and willingness to to work on special requests.

It sounds from your description and replies from their support that they are not a suitable host for the business you envision.

Expecting a company to change its service on demand for one customer likely paying less than $4 a month is asking a lot.

You have a direct, honest answer from the company. It's your site so make a decision on what to do. Wait till March to add the extras to get your $16 worth of hosting - or move to another host that has what you need.
