How much content to stay safe?

I have read somewhere that Google may penalize you if you have little content on your website. I wonder how many articles should I have on my Wordpress blog at minimum to stay safe? Let's say one my article has around 500 words.

Currently I have 3 articles on my WP blog. Is that enough? Also, I've made only the latest one article to show on the homepage - Can this harm my website?

There are more factors that google penalizes websites for than just content. For example, what links do you have going back to your blog? Hopefully quality backlinks, and not sandboxed links from PR 0 websites. In addition, you arent going to be penalized for little to no content and a stagnant website. However, you arent going to rank for anything and you wont get much traffic.

Just keep posting quality content and get quality backlinks. Dont worry about being penalized if you are doing the right thing.

Everyone else took my answers but here are some basic things to look out for:
    - Get Quality Content or 300-500 words
    - A Video with same keywords as your article
    - H1.2.&3 tags
    - a photo with keywords embeded and links
    - finally a call to action at the end with your keyword in the last sentence.

Don't focus too much on trying to have a certain amount of words in each article. Just write quality, useful content. A lot of my favorite sites are filled with posts that are ~200 words each. Worrying about trying to please Google will hurt you in the long run.

Quality is way more important than quantity in the eyes of Google, at least from what I've seen. It really depends on what you're writing about and what you want to accomplish. That may not seem very helpful, but it's the best advice I can give you.

If you're depending on SEO alone - you might have to do a lot more activity. If you're networking by other means - it's not like Google can kick you off your own domain.

Even a weekly update goes a long way - not only with Google but with people too.

    • You shouldn't necessarily focus on posting a lot of content, but posting original content regularly. Be consistent and publish new articles a few times a week. Build links to your pages and promote your content on social media sites, blogs, forums, etc.

3 articles aren't enough. You need to be making 1 blog post everyday, and drive traffic to your blog efficiently, and collect blog subscribers.

I'd say 750 words of high quality content does the trick. Anywhere between (500 - 1000) is all you need.

I think you should aim at having at least 800 words per article. You may write 300 word articles, others 2000 word articles. Asymmetry might help convincing Google they're natural and not "scheme"-like built all in the same way...

So what I'm saying is: avoid any pattern!

Then: 3 articles is all you have? Did I get that right?
Whenever starting anew website have at least 30 for start!

Otherwise a stronger, yet still small site should have at least 100-200, I think.

You can start with 30-40, then add to it. It would be ideal for the site to have already around 200 in the first year.

Those wanting to learn something about "how to do article marketing" will still perhaps be interested to know that every successful, professional, experienced article marketer here says something radically different from that!!

Like everyone else making a living from article marketing, I get about twice the traffic, twice the backlinks and twice the income from a 1,000-word article that I can get from two 500-word articles. And there are, as there always have been, good and valid and reliable reasons for that.

People who "find more than 500 words too much to read" are not your high-probability customers.

More than 500 words content is good enough for any site as a article.

400-500 words must be in one article. And it will be more beneficial if you update your site regularly.

You have to know that google is not all about the amount of contents but the quality. Some very informative posts contain about 200 to 300 words post and still of quality. So focus on the quality of the content.

I would say article or blog post can contain one sentence if it is essential and gets a some major information for your reads. For example you don't need 1000 words article to let USA readers know about hurricane, the simple and short post would be very valuable if posted on time.

It really depends on how you promote, but if you want to be high in the search engines and reach the maximum amount of people there, you need to update with new posts regularly!

Again, it might not fit your business model, but if you do indeed want to get organic, search-driven, and targeted traffic, then you've really got to keep feeding your site posts with your keywords. Every time you find a new popular search term for your site's theme, post a new blog post for that searcher.

It is best to try and post daily until you see results, then you can slow it down. In short: No, that is nowhere near enough content, unless you plan to promote in other ways, to a massive degree, or use CPC.
