I think I outdid myself .. what do you think?

I was just about to order an ebook graphic when I decided to
use the software wasting away on my hard drive - Box Shot 3D.

Then I realize there were no templates that came with the softare.
Chucks! So I tinkered around with Adobe Fireworks using the one
sample you get with the BoxShot 3D to get the dimension of the
cover.

I was pleasantly surprised by the results ...

Whoa! I feel good .. dadadada ... for I know that I should ... dadadada ...

I guess I'll be giving up copywriting for graphics soon!

Hey, that's pretty neat. I never been able to create ebook cover graphic though I have bought the software. Can't really get to make it looks presentable.

I am still figuring out how I can put background picture but blend with words that can clear stand out. I will need to spend time doing it until I get it right.

As you can see I didn't try to be fancy. Those are just squares, background
color and plain text. There are no pictures or anything. I'll learn those
other heavy stuff afterwards I guess.

Though you do not have graphic picture, your wording is smooth whereas when I tried, it is sort of jagged. Guess that is your first attempt and it is much better than me.

What software are you using to do the cover graphics? (As I use
Fireworks before rendering in Box 3D?)

Well, what can I say? An expert has spoken!

@Steve, it took me about 30 minutes. The toughest part was
getting the proper dimensions and choosing background colors
and text style and colors that go well together.

I guess for experts they would already know these combinations
or have ready-made templates they play around with.

And for sure, I saved the 'template'.

I bought the ebook cover creator. I use text from paint shop pro and copy over to the ebook cover creator.

My guess is that the skewed text came from the paint shop pro since
the software can only render what you feed it.

I'm not sure your results warrant such a move.

Truman Capote remarked once about Kerouak in saying "That isn't writing at all; that's typing."

While I'm not sure I agree with his assessment of the Kerouak work (I love Kerouak), I think it's important to understand the difference between proficiency with software and the ability to compose and ideate.

LOL! You know how those kind of deals break down.
Haven't you seen the "FREE" DVD offers where you just
      pay for shipping and handling?

So my WSO would be "FREE Copywriting with purchase of an ecover"

I wish I could find one as well. With all of research and comparisons
Box 3D did the best in terms of price/quality/variety. But it's best at
rendering. You don't have any built-in templates to work with.

So you have to do all the leg work--you have to feed it quality.
I'm surprised that the company hasn't filled in this gap. But
perhaps in a later version they would.

Of course nothing beats photoshop and some good scripts. I just
think it hard to invest so much money in photoshop that I wouldn't
use that often. I guess the same way in which a graphic artist
wouldn't invest thousands of dollars building a copywriting library.

So I'm just a graphic tinkerer ... when I want the hardcore stuff
    I pay an expert.

Ray, when you've got that kind of credibility, you could put up a cover
that says "Buy Me!" and you'll probably make sales.

I used to have that same software and chucked it for Photoshop. I'm no
graphic artist but with Michael M's action scripts, there is just no comparison
      to anything else out there.

Besides, I don't think graphic artists make as much as copywriters anyway.

The pros may be laughing, but I for one like being able to read what it says. Which I CAN! YAY!

And why should it have to have a picture? LOTS of bestselling physical books don't have pictures on the cover - especially nonfiction. So there!

But let me take issue with one thing here: in no way does your work on this cover constitute "giving up copywriting" - You've practically squeezed a whole SALESPAGE on there, mate!!!
 Just couldn't help yourself: admit it!!!!!

btw I am REALLY enjoying my prize copy of Secrets of the 15% Salesletter that I won in your little contest last week! - I am going through it very gradually because there are so many notes to take. I think I am actually uncovering a hidden passion for copywriting I didn't know I had! It feels like a live masterclass. The amount of detail is incredible, and I know you didn't ask for one, but a testimonial is on the way, as soon as I get through it all, or probably sooner than -- And I always deliver on my promises!

    cheers
    Ken

PS hey wait a minute -- that WAS a testimonial!!! YOU did that, didn't you - You sneakily NLP'd me or something!!!!

      Ken,

Be careful. People would think that I put you up to this.
Anyway glad that you are enjoying your prize. Actually,
when I first ran that product as a WSO, many Warriors told
me that I should make it a $997 copywriting course.

But, back on subject. I did try to get as much text on
the book cover as possible. I think too many graphics
take away from the book title--the words should do the
      selling.

      Hi Ray,

Your humour - you give up copywriting for graphycs - is appreciatable.

Btw your cover is a good work at first attempt.

It occurred to someone else already that he went on an excursion onto an area where he hadn't been yet. The world makes progress in this manner. We would live in the Stone Age if wouldn't have been experimenting people yet.
