How many lead a month do you need?

How many leads per month do you need for your business to make you happy?

I am wondering what kind of volume some of you guys are seeing? I understand i will get some comments stating its all about sales but im still curious. Coming from a business where the telephone is involved, closing ratio is high so i would therefore i would require less leads. My goal is to reach 400 leads a month so 100 a week, so incase you were wondering 13-14 per day... yes i can do math.

I have an intensive registration form so when someone signs up..... they sign up.

Yeah this question is gonna get all types of answers, but for me, the quality of the lead is much more important. I can get a ton of leads to a squeeze page, but if they're not buyers, then they won't convert and you won't make any money. Versus, if you get leads that maybe cost more, but are buyers of your specific niche, then that lead is worth much more money, so I would need less of those quality leads. But yeah, 30 leads a day is enough.

I think everyone should call there leads even if they are selling cheap products. I sell services sometimes, and i know where the lead came from and i sometimes laugh to myself... because i have learned so much in a short time of calling. I dont send an email and get a no buy.... i get someone either confused witht the product/service, or i get someone broke, or i get someone that went to my competitor etc.

I am not an ecommerce seller but i can see already that you can greatly improve your business if you just pick up the phone and identify the problems you are having with the leads such as

      Why do they not buy

Are they busy all the time and forgot about you?
Did they go to your competitor?
Do they not want the product/service anymore (changed their mind)?
Do they not have the money?
Are they confused about who/what you do as a company?
Are they confused about what your product/service does?
Are they confused about the benefits/rewards of buying your product/service?
Do they think your price point is off?
Are they comfortable with method of payment (over the phone, professional check out page--cross browser compatible etc)

Id say every time i call up a lead i have to address all of these or i just do anyway to cover all of my bases.

I actually have to have a rebuttal for this on the phone so its kind of cool knowing if i was not aloud to use the phone.... what key points i would put in my copy writing.... MUCH different than my initial copywriting. Selling over the phone is teaching me to be better off of it. I can not state that because i have not done it but really believe sales.... is sales. I bet most good copywriters are excellent sales people.

  • The intensive registration form puts people off.

    I know this from experience.

Capture a name, email and telephone number only and you will see a sharp increase in the number of enquiries you receive.

I have been put off numerous times by forms asking for a shed load of information, especially if I feel some of the questions are quite intrusive.

People seem to be a lot more willing to release personal info if they have 100% trust in you, your company and your products or services.

People don't seem to mind so much when only having to give a number or an email address because they can always politely say no at a later stage without the worry of having given over too much info about themselves.

I am certain that if you ask for too much info many others will be put off too.

I understand that you want a lead that is truly qualified but I think you will be losing a lot of enquiries from people that dont have the time to fill in a quick form.

Really a good question. If 60% of the leads are buyer then surely for White hat IM purpose 45/ month would be fine, if 60% of the leads are for Black Hat then 1000 customer will do for me.

As many as possible assuming those leads are qualified.

This is a tough question because you can get 100 leads in a week and get 0 sales from that. Even worst, these same 100 leads may never buy from you or open your emails.

I think that on average, if your leads are good, you should expect 1 sale for every 20-40 leads.

I was in a system a few years ago where I got like 2000 leads and 8 people bought.

You can bring in 10 leads for one day, and 3 of them will buy right away.

Numbers will go up and down all the time. The key here is to be persistent with your leads flow.

Hmm i think everyone would say this subjectively. Ive never tested so i would be lying if i told you i know what works better.

Here is how i do it.... i do not make much of a mention about you ever giving me your info... i just say if you need help tell us what type of help you need?

Then they start filling out stuff, THEN i go to another page saying ok we have identified your needs and can help you, create a login and give us name number.

Honestly how could it work better the other way..... if someone just throws me to a page asking for my info im out... youve provided no value in my eyes yet, you didnt warm me up, you did not show me anything dynamic, you just TOLD me to give me your info.

I ask questions then you feel as if damn i did all the work i have to give info now.

Im sure many people fill out the form... then bounce on the second page asking for name and number, but that lead would of sucked anyway. I eventually will do what you say BUT i really feel like even if i got more leads, they would be bad ones... this is almost like a vetting process.. i do not want to scare people off asking for their number, but number and name is needed.

My solution will eventually be a link that says.... i need help with the process and a module will pop up asking for name number and then will say we will contact you within 24 hours.

      gold
thank you.... cant buy this type of info.

Was this all via email and/or on site. Was human intervention (salespeople) involved in any of these stats?

1 out of 20-40... 5%-2.5%...thats pretty rough i would think and that is good your saying. How do people cope that are selling products for $30 with a PPC of $2-4 and make money like this? This ratio does not work apparently.
It would cost $40-$80 or $80-$160 just to get those clicks to sell a $30 product.... and your losing $10 at a best case scenario. Im assuming your going to say future up selling via email. God i hate email sales.
