Windows 8 Pro Discount

Hi all, there's a good news for those of you wants to buy Microsoft 8 pro. Microsoft is offering Windows 8 Pro at a great discount, but this offer is limited to only a certain group of people who have purchased Windows 7 PCs. You qualify for the Windows 8 offer if you have purchased Windows 7 PC between 2 June 2012 and 31 January 2013.

1. You need to go to Microsoft upgrade page: Windows Upgrade Offer - Landing Page
2. Select your country from the list — over 140 countries can avail this discount. Hit the Continue button. The exact cost of Windows 8, depending on the country selected, will be shown.
3. Register by entering your personal information, PC model, brand, date of Windows 7 purchase, and other information. You will know if you are eligible or not on this steps.

The last day to register and order your Windows 8 Pro copy at this price is 28 February 2013. Microsoft is offering Windows 8 at a dirt cheap price (available for $30 at Microsoft’s online store) limited only for a couple of months, then the price will shoot up to $169 in January 2013.

If this type of thread is not allowed here, please delete it (to WF mods). I'm just trying to help.

I did a quick research about this offer and looks like its legit offer from microsoft.

Check on this official microsoft page where they have link to the upgrade offer domain.:
    http://www.microsoft.com/oem/en/sale...id=pqVWhxFLPxj

Anyways, it's an interesting offer and I think I'm qualified for this. I need to do another research for the benefit of Windows 8 over 7 though.

Ah, they really want people to use Windows 8, huh? I can't do it, I just can't. I skipped Vista, being Loyal to XP, and fell in love with 7. 8 is too early, and metro is too annoying for me.

Thanks. What about assembled PCs, is there an option for them as well in the registration details? I suppose you have already upgraded to Windows 8. Whats your take on the OS?

I don't really know about assembled PCs but you can try to go to the link that i gave to see if you are eligible or not. You will get something like this if you aren't eligible: Unfortunately, the information provided during the registration process is not eligible for the upgrade offer.

I didn't upgrade mine because the size of Microsoft 8 Pro is 3.6GB and maybe i'm not eligible. You need to have a good internet connection first to download it.

I don't fix things that aren't broke (Unless the product presents a needed feature/quality). Since I've adapted this logic, I've saved myself a lot of time and money.

I wouldn't make a thread about this offer if it's not legit, right? Thanks for the quick research though. I think there was a Torrents download for the Windows 8 developer preview if you want to try it and compare the benefits.

I'm using Windows 7 too but i might upgrade to Windows 8 if i'm eligible (unfortunately i'm not). There's lots of new feautures on Windows 8 and it's a discounted price, i'll need to pay more if in case i want to upgrade in future. That $160++ to get Windows 8 after this promotion.

I think Windows 7 is better than XP.

That's true but they just added some more new features on Windows 8 that might be useful for some people. Stick to whatever Windows version you have if everything is fine and saves money. Furthermore, the Windows 8 Pro is too big (3.6GB).

Your welcome Rose. I'm sure you will be eligible for this offer since you bought your laptop in August. Windows 8 Pro for $15 is a great price.

Now that's a typical MS scam, isn't it? It's £15 in the UK!

That price depends on your country or where you are situated, mine was RM49.92. I tried to see how much it cost in Canada and US, it was $14.99. I'm not sure if it's MS scam though.

But after researching a bit I'll stick to W7 Pro.

I know that I don't like to have some at my PC what looks what I have at my tablet.

Like most above, I just LOVED XP, and those fools just stopped now to give support, that's why I got W7.

Not all what's new is good.

MS wanna run behind a boat they missed, and I ain't gone play guinea pig to sort out the bugs they will have with this one.

Oh! Ok. You are right, let's wait for the confirmation from them that W8 is good and not buggy. W7 is not bad after all so sticking to it is a good idea for now.

You mean upgrade to Windows 8? Yes, if Windows 7 have everything you need then you shouldn't upgrade it. Also, we should wait for the confirmation that W8 is not buggy or at least give it a few months to be on the markets and we'll see their users feedback.

            I meant downgrade

People who upgraded from xp to Vista, pretty much ended up downgrading. I will wait to see how people react to windows 8 before I even think about upgrading from 7

Thanks for the discount thread though

I have it free via Academic Alliance.

I personally think windows 7 is the best OS of all time.

    Yes; that includes *nix systems.

I have 8 on a usb stick though; maybe I'll install it.

    Some day.

PS: Vista was actually an awesome operating system.

XP absolutely sucks. The driver capability on XP was inferior to Vista. (Vista automatically detects many videocards / lan devices that XP does not).

As long as you had a nice video card, processor, and good quantity of ram, Vista was tight. I was so excited when it first came out.

But yeah, 7 does own it.

I'm not ready to move on. I can't imagine improving upon Windows 7 to be honest.

I think sooner or later, we all have to use Windows 8. Just like what happened to Vista (they don't provide support anymore).
