Google "Goo-Roos" and Monday Morning Quarter Backs.

Saturday November 3 I placed wagers on 6 college football games. I ended up with 4 winners and 2 losers so it was a decent day. It got me to thinking however.....if I could have waited until after all the game were OVER......and still place my bets....I'd be sitting under a friggin' palm tree, sipping frozen margaritas with hot chicks telling me they love me----because hindsight is 20/20.

At least in sports betting. And don't we all know at least one guy who can always tell you who he WOULD HAVE BET once the game ends.

Ironically I'm seeing the same BS trend with a select group of arrogant google "goo-roos" who for some reason spew knowledge like they are on the board of directors of the giant GOO. Hint: They aint!

They create products about how to game the panda, penguin, lion, tiger, and bear and come across like they're G. Gordon Liddy breaking into secret Water Gate Google headquarters leaving with information that only they possess.

BULL S#IT !!!! One flip of the switch and their "insight" puts them right back in their 9 to 5 job cleaning slushy machines at the local Quickie Mart.

Any guru who claims to hold "secret GOOGLE knowledge" is at best simply giving you his or her OPINION after the fact....and while hindsight is 20/20....their opinions don't even hold up to that test because the only peeps that know WTF Google is gonna do next is GOOGLE.

And maybe I'm just a bum from the neighborhood, but logic dictates GOOGLE aint exactly handing out the "inside information" in a brief case to some click bank/wso peddler....so he can turn it around and sell it for $7 friggin' dollars.

So next time you get dazzled by the sirens song.....sung by some guy who claims he knows who, what, where, and why etc. Just remember, he's REACTING to what has already happened. He's giving you his "spin" after the event.....not his insight PRIOR to the event. Big difference.

And just when u take the bait.....bam......here come another animal with razor sharp teeth who messes up that theory. And then along come another guru who tells you once again AFTER THE FACT why it happened...using tech terms to impress chicks at cocktail parties.

I gave up playing the Google Game long ago.....I market around sites they own cuz common sense dictates Gooster aint gonna beat up their little brothers aka You Tube and Local Biz whom if anyone has paid attention recently.....is being courted like a back seat prom date by Google. (Every local client I have ranked on page one gets calls from Google trying to get them ranked on page one. LMAO. It's true.)

No problem with those who intelligently attempt to explain what they think the changes mean or why they were made.....big problem with those who come off like they had insight all along.

If that's the case....someone put out a WSO BEFORE THE NEXT BIG CHANGE RATHER THEN AFTER. CAPICHE. Monday morning quarterbacking isn't exactly a tough skill set.

Very true and the guise has been going on in the WSO section and outside forums for a very long time.

The WSOs usually come soon after media conferences when Google hints upcoming changes, no details.. just hints..and MC has a tradition of "pausing" on the subject matter.. which is the unofficial indicator.

You can follow it at SEO Roundtable and others. Often, as soon as the "hints" are published is when you see a lot of new WSOs from as you say, so called Google Gurus. All speculation and usually written in such a way that parrots the media or twists facts.

Thing is.. some buyers would rather spend $7 than do a half hour of research. That $7 could end up costing them hundreds in the end.

    Jeffery 100% :-)

LOL well good luck pulling that one off, bro.

It goes beyond just the wasted cash Jeffrey (tho it does add up don't it?) Spun misinformation spewed "after the fact" keeps aspiring marketers paralyzed from taking action and for 95% of them that's a given any way.

Most are afraid to jump in the game to begin with and then they hear about the evil Panda they figure WTF....who needs this? The deck is stacked against me...etc. That's where the knight in shining chrome comes in with "the answer". Yeah right.

Point being.....great marketers are proactive. Their site gets crushed....they figure out how to screw google and get TRAFFIC from other sources. It's proactive vs reactive that ultimately determines who survives and flourishes. You can't move forward if you spend your life "guessing" what the big G is gonna do next. And those pretending they know (when half of Google probably doesn't know) are being dishonest....to say the least. .VV

    Vince,

You made me think (yes it hurt)

Maybe you just started something.. SEO Playoffs? Websites dedicated to SEO Games?

All of the Google Gurus are "teams" and the winner outranks their competitors websites?

BTW, how many of the so called Google Gurus actually have their own website. I saw a few that ranked as high as PR1 and the domain was created a few months before the offer and the official contact is via email or skype.

Nah, I'll take Jack Humphrey's little Black Book any day.

    Jeffery 100% :-)

There are those on this forum whose posts are filled with information and/or ideas that help stir up the creative juices that reside in all of us.

And fortunately for me, when accessing the forum on a "Murphy's Law" day, there are those whose posts entertain the hell out of me or have my a$$ on the floor laughing so hard I can hardly breathe.

Vince is the rare person here who embodies both of these kinds of marketers and quite frankly we've all missed having his informative and entertaining posts here recently.

Good to have you back Vinnie and happy to hear that your healthy again. Keep the rants coming again brother. You're still a breath of fresh air in an internet marketing world filled with perpetual bull****!

Funny that this just came up. I was reading a post a couple of days ago where some others were ranting about WSO's and this one warrior said he bought a WSO on the EMD update like ONLY 4-5 days after it started happening and he says he got screwed.

    I mean seriously?

What did this guy expect, that after ONLY 4-5 days, when the rest of the IM world was still reeling in confusion, and people were still trying to figure out what the EMD update actually was about, and what the full extent and repurcussions might be, this guy thought that there was someone who actually proclaimed to solve it, and was offering this solution for $10. (And this was not a newbie IMer either)

    It's amazing to me

    1) How quickly these Guru's pop up after each Google update

    and

    2) How dumb poeple can be when they don't use their common sense

    Anyway, great post.

Thank u Shane...and your reply is spot on. I'm not sure half of GOOGLE knows what the hell they're going to do next......but the thought of them handing over the 4 Horseman on a secret CD to a guy whose going to turn it into a dime sale WSO makes zero cents literally.

What's really sad is there are methods that HAVE managed to escape Google's wrath and worked then and now...... but rather then focus on the positive.....the lemmings are being fed a one way ticket off the cliff complete with a defective parachute. peace, VV

I found it very interesting that within 24 hours after Google switched from places to local plus there were several WSO's claiming expert insight, loop holes and just a bunch of other garbage in order to profit off of unsuspecting people.
