Just published my first Kindle Ebook- Lets see how it goes

Just published my first ebook on kindle. Its currently in review but cant wait to see how it does. I really just wanted to stop reading about it, talking about it, learning about it and just get it done so just the fact that I am DONE is huge for me. I plan on putting more up in the coming weeks and outsourcing the writing. I learned a lot from Ty Cohens Kindle Cash Flow course as well as a few other WSO's so I just couldnt wait to finally put it into action. I know its about volume if you want to make a full time income from it.

To anyone that has shiny object syndrome itching at them, I sympathize cuz I did too. Just keep your head down and get it done then move on. DO NOT move on to anything else until you have your current project done, out the door, and making money. Multiple projects does not always mean more money.

Just thought I would share.

Anyone recommend some good free promotional methods once your book is out?

I can't offer any suggestions as far as promoting, but Iwant to congratulate you for getting it finished and actually published! I have 2 books about 80% complete and have been pushing them aside (I'm assuming from a little fear...haha), so I know what a big deal this is to have it DONE! Way to go

Well you could offer free promotions if you want to try and garner some reviews. To offer a free promotion you need to sign the book up to KDP select, which means you can't offer the book on another platform for 90 days.

I recommend testing the waters and offering it for free. Personally, i found that free promotions are better when you have a catalog of books. That way if someone likes the book they can purchase others but thats because I write mine in a certain way that reviews are unlikely and unneeded.

Save a free promotion for Christmas time as well, that will be a busy time for Kindle.

Awesome! I remember how wonderful it felt when I got my first book up there. Just the fact that I finished it, formatted, and uploaded it was a huge accomplishment.

The subsequent books get easier to create and you can create them faster....in my experience, they don't all take as long as that first one.

If I were you, I would start creating a buzz around it. Use a blog, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, create Listmanias, "So You'd Like To" guides, look for guest posting opps on blogs related to your book's genre and include links back to either your blog or the actual book itself.

Create as many links to your book around the web as you can. Successful sales don't happen overnight, but when they do, it's like a snowball......the more sales you get, the higher the rank....the higher the rank, the more sales....

          Good luck and congrats again!

I read somewhere that a good way to promote kindle books is to contact book review blogs and offer the bloggers a free review copy of your book. Then, if they enjoyed your book, they'll post their review of it and send all their readers to your book.

Thanks a lot for all the info I am definitely going to spend this next week spending time promoting the ebook. I really am just enjoying that satisfaction of finishing.

I really want to get a system together to start outsourcing these things and just pumping them out. Hopefully by this time next year it will be a full time income as long as I keep the momentum going and keep doing the research and putting out at least 2 quality ebooks each month. Every dime I make I plan on putting back into the business to build my little empire.

Congratulations on getting your first book done, that is a HUGE first step. Now it's time for some marketing.

In terms of a tip for free promotional methods, by far, the #1 thing you can do is to create an author "brand" for yourself and communicate to your readers and potential readers on a regular basis. I've seen this propel many authors to success time and time again.

It's not quick or easy, and that is why many authors don't do it but it also makes it that much more effective for those who do

It's hard to launch your first book anywhere but if you keep following through and write a second one right away within the same subject, then your chances in sales increase greatly. There is no magic in marketing a book on line, just a lot of hard work and common sense. Stay away from spending money on products and just go for it, tell everyone about it. All the best.

Congrats!! it is awesome that you have your book out there!

Have you tried good reads? It is a big social platform for book readers and you can run contests.

What a great site, thanks! I signed up there and plan on promoting my books there as well. I really want to have a system in place where each time I put one out I have a list of Go To sites that I can go to and promote the book on, run ads, etc. so this is great thanks again.

There are many people claiming to write, look in the section for job offers here in the forum. Ask for samples of ebooks specifically; many are article writers, so the ebooks are articles jammed together instead of a flowing unit. I did several ebooks for kindle for third parties but I am not doing it at this time.

Then you have formatting, anyone with some knowledge of html can do it. A VA could do it to.

Marketing... I bought a product some time ago in the wso section that was pretty good at the marketing side. Can´t remember the name, it was for writing fiction. I will hunt it down in my hard disk, or maybe someone can jump in and help here.

There are bloggers out there who work with reviews regularly, try "keyword+book review" or similar to find them. With the new trim of Amazon, you can´t just send over a pdf for review; you will have to put the ebook free for about a week and call in people to download it for review. This can be outsourced, both the research and the contact - you might want to provide a template.

What else... squidoo is a good place for book reviews. I do them regularly for third parties there. Many people do squidoo lenses, you can hire someone to do it.

That´s all I´ve got so far...

Definitely make full use of the KDP Select program.

A 2 day promo of just one of my books for example resulted in 22,000 FREE downloads. It became a best seller in PAID in it's category which led to "customers who bought this bought this" etc. This led to hundreds of sales on the eBook and trickle down sales to the other book I have available in the niche.
