My website is a bust. What to do?

Almost a year ago I decided to try affiliate marketing and set up an Amazon Affiliate website. I have a full time job in biotech marketing but wanted to make some cash on the side. With the help of this forum, I found Jennifer Clason, who made me a nice flashy site. Well, it has been up for nine months and it made a total of $14. That means I am losing money, obviously. I know that you have to constantly update your site to get the SEO you need, but I am not able to figure out how to edit my own site, so it stays the same as it did nine months ago. Is there anyone out there that can help me edit/create a site that will make a little money for me? If not, I will just drop out of the whole Internet marketing attempt and chalk it up to experience. My site is here: www.geocachingsupppliessite.com. Thanks!

    Hey,

Yeah, clearly pointed out, unfortunately the link to your site is not working? So get that checked out and rectify... However in relation to traffic, or SEO. Hvae you considered placing comments or blogs relating to your niche... And then some sites will allow you to leave a link directing back to your site? Try doing this with forums etc which may be present or shown on page 1 of a search engine result.

Secondly, if you have certain products or services, find JV partner, even found on WF its self to email their list or prospects about what you have to offer, again you must make the JV attractive and offer a good % maybe 70%,80% etc

You could also upload videos on you tube about yoursite etc, article marketing video marketing.. Gets your page ranked better.

However, solo ads... but they is to have a site with excellent content and value. Have an opt in screen and offer a free gift like an ebook, in that ebook you could have a link which links back to your site, give the rights to the individual to sell that book etc, and that will create more awareness.. as other wise click on your link in that book?

These are just a few strategies you can use... Also you could conduct webinars with some of the products, and have them uploaded to you tube etc...

Hope some of these help... They all work.. But its how bad you want it!

My site is fine. I typed it in wrong. It's actually geocachingsuppliessite.com (without the www for some reason). What I really need is someone who can edit my website. I don't know how to do it myself. I know nothing about web design.

There are plenty of people in here where you can assign the work to. You just have to find the right forum

From an SEO standpoint this website needs work. You are not getting sales because you are likely not getting any traffic, and if you are it is most likely very low quality traffic.

You need to build a site that people WANT to come to, not a website that is obviously only there to take peoples money.

Your reviews need to be written with a little more credibility. Perhaps add a little humor or list some negatives or neutral points about each product. Make it more 'human'.

You will also need to write some content that is informational and related to your products for people that are just after a little information about installation or setup, etc. Google hates thin affiliate websites, so beef it up.

Most importantly you need backlinks. Start a strong SEO campaign that gives you great quality consistent incoming links. This will build authority and help improve your sites rankings for your money keywords.

High quality traffic = high conversion rates.

As previous poster said, this site doesn't add anything to our knowledge of these devices. It's exactly the sort of site Panda should be targeting.

Check this site which raises the bar for all product review sites.

Why would the site make any money?

Was does it have to offer me?

5 basic pages and a load of affiliate links....

You need more indepth reviews and a lot more content plus if you do get traffic you need people to add their own reviews.

It's a Wordpress site and there are a million or two Wordpress tutorials on the Internet, including at Wordpress.org. Learn how to operate your site. It's not that hard.

Just what I was going to say. It's a Wordpress site. Didn't the person who built the site give you your login details?

I have a handout on how to edit your wordpress site that I give to all my clients. It shows you the basics - how to edit a post/page or widget.

I've PMed you my email address. Shoot me an email and I'll send you the handout.

Your site is a bust because you are not active on it.

Any site with 5 review articles and no fresh content will continue to sit there like a bump-on-a-log.

Just because you build it doesn't mean that they will come...actually just the opposite.

Infuse it with fresh content regularly...and they will start coming...slowly.

There is some good advice here. Putting a blog on your site and updating it about twice a week is a good idea, having a newsletter and signup area, and putting more personal advice or stories on the site would help.

I read somewhere that adding additional good content pages to a site regularly or updating what you have helps too.

Ask yourself WHY a certain GPS unit is your personal favorite. Do you have a story about using it? Try talking about your adventures using the products, or maybe even have a contest giving away one of the units. A "how-to" video posted there could also help.

You also have some unused space at the right of your site, too, that you may want to use for further interesting eye candy for visitors. On the good side, the site design is clean and uncluttered. Good luck on your site!
