how do I get a quality blog to take off?

Hi there,

My wife is passionate about baking and I'm helping her start a baking blog.

The blog is mainly about cakes, pastries and what-not, with AdSense being the monetization goal.

I want to to help with driving traffic and readership, but I don't actually want to do any black hat SEO techniques.

Apart from paid traffic, SEO and YouTube videos, what other methods would you suggest that we can use to kick-start the blog?

    Sign up to a related forum (with good traffic - check Home | Compete), get your post count up a little by providing some good responses, try to get some good reputation if possible.

    Once you have established yourself within that community, you can begin to recommend your blog to people.

    I am currently doing this for my niche and it is having an effect, it is something you need to perfect though

    Make a facebook and/or pinterest page associated to your blog. You can post photos of your products (pastries), especially in pinterest. Everyone's been doing that when it comes to this kind of niche. With facebook, you can post any new blog posts or updates from your blog. You can add friends to increase visitors to your page.

    Make a blog post everyday. Submit your blog to the blog directories and your blog's RSS feeds to the RSS directories. Utilize forums in the baking niche and start driving traffic from these sites.
