How to get more visitors to a site

Hi there.
For effective traffic, I suggest you start looking into paid traffic. Not necessarily Google AdWords, or even Facebook ads, but things like media buys, solo ads, and banner ads.

If you really want loads of traffic to your site, paid traffic is the way to go.

Try to get a hold of whether it's courses, or free information regarding all that. It will take an investment, and some money only to try out, but... in the long term, it's better than trying to cheat the search engines or Google, which could change the algorithm any time, without notice.

Jamie, You just need to keep link building, promoting your products or site with social media and You tube. Paid ad's will get you instant traffic. I think you just need to do a combination of all the promotional techniques talked about on this forum & see which works best for you. Social media does seem to be getting a lot of good press with regards to Google serps results. Perhaps you should concentrate some time on that.

I think it is good to use Adwords and facebook ads. And also write guest posts in your niche realated blog.

There are loads of free ways online to get traffic from Facebook, Twitter to RSS Feeds & Blog posting.

Search engine optimization has steady affect in the long run, but if you want instant traffic to your blog or site then sponsored blog post would be the best idea. Find the niche places in high traffic popular websites, ask their webmaster or advertisement team about your concern, if they agree to post your topic negotiate the price with them, then write a high quality article which shouldn't be hardcore promotional but it should be written in such a way so that your service will get promoted as well visitors find it interest to read. In this way you can boost your traffic.

If you have money to spend, paid traffic is definitely the way to go. However, if you don't.. then you need to spend lots of time doing many various free traffic generation strategies. Pick out about 5 main traffic generation techniques and stick with them, master them. The important thing is to ALWAYS BE CONSISTENT with your marketing efforts!

Doing what you're doing now. Forum posting. It's something that people often overlook but it's a tried-and-true method. If you become semi-active in a handful of high traffic, niche related forums can drive some pretty targeted traffic to your site via your sig. Plus, it's a great way to build relationships with other people interested in your niche.

Jamie, while paying may be an option what I think is that it is good to have a marketing strategy and make sure it aligns with who you are and your goals. Set up a plan a try a few of these consistently for some time and evaluate which one works best. Also, seeking out guestblogging may be an option, depending on how personal you want to get..

If you're starting now maybe your budget is too tight to invest in paid advertisement.
I would recommend you to boost your social media marketing and posts in popular forums related to your niche. These are free and targeted source of traffic.

When you start making a few bucks, you can use part of it for paid advertising purposes.

You need to do way more than what you are currently doing.

Posting spun content on some piece of devalued directories is not going to get you where you want to be.

If i were you i will pick a handful of top traffic web 2.0, press release, article directories, wikis, blogs and submit an original unspun content to. Your content must be of good quality, readable and hot to drive eye balls and get syndicated too.

Participate on top forums and blogs related to your niche, leave valuable comment. Don't try to spam or your account can be banned.

Video marketing is another thing to look into, ensure you hand pick your keywords first before optimizing it.

Social media like Facebook, Twitter, Myspace are great sources of traffic, i think you need to learn more about this for it to work for you.

some good advice in this thread, but I have not seen anyone say the most obvious thing.

You need high targeted traffic for more optins and sales. At least thats what works for me, and my niches.

YOu need to find out your most likely clients / prospects their age, their wants, needs and desires, and then find out the high traffic sites they hang out on. That is the easiest way to make money and to break into a niche quickly.

Yes! ok the internet is slowly changing, but using this tactic for the next say 50 years, you are always guarenteed to make money. Go to the most likely places / communities where you prospects hang out and put your messages in front of them = WIN WIN situation and if you are NOT making money doing this, then you are doing something VERY WRONG!

Join another forum - but this time one in your NICHE. Participate on there everyday. Don't spin and submit anything. You're better off writing your own content from scratch. I recommend you get a blog also. Hopefully you have money for advertising. You can advertise on Google Adwords and even Youtube. I suggest both.

Johnben1444: Thanks for your comments. It is interesting to see that you don't discount article directories as long as they are of high quality with high traffic throughput. Is that everyone's thoughts on this? So Google doesn't hate all article directories? If only we knew which the good/OK ones are..... is that based on G's PR?

I'd either go for search engine optimisation, AdWords, or a combination of the two. Most online businesses use digital marketing agencies to help with this.

Great question. There are a variety of things you can try to start driving more traffic to your site. How far have you gotten doing onsite SEO for your website? Keep adding good content on a weekly basis and make sure you build a page around each target keyword that you have selected.

You can also drive more traffic by performing some offsite SEO. Create external properties on free business listing websites that include your business information and links to your website. You could also use a service such as Yext to accomplish this with less effort and develop a more consistent web presence. You should also create a business page on major social media networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and Google Plus and upload content frequently.

PPC is also an alternative to get some quick paid traffic coming your way.

I really like the search.twitter.com feature.... really useful and helpful in getting the message out there.

Great set of articles.... it is good to see that I am doing most of it..... i guess as some of the articles say..... building visits and site authority is organic and takes time..... being consistent and keeping up with content production is key. The issue is that the content I am producing is so in-depth that it takes about 3 - 4 weeks to complete. But i guess it is better to have good content than OK content.
