What's with Paypal ...

I have a paypal account I had not logged into for over a year.

When I try to log in it doesn't recognize my email or password. Then asks to
enter about 3 possible email addresses I may have used. I do, and it responds
that none are recognized.

I precede to open a new paypal account using that same email address I used
in the first place and included when it asked for 3 possible email addresses I
could have used. I get a response that I already have a email account using
that email address and it precedes to ask for a password. I enter the password
and I'm back to step one, its like it does not recognize any account under that
email address.

I believe I had funds in that account, did they shut it down since I hadn't accessed
the account in over a year?

Or what gives? Do I have to open a new account using a totally different email address
and why?

    you are obviously in their database already.

    You need to deal with paypal, no one here can help you figure out if you actually do have a paypal account still or not.

    I would suspect you do and you just don't remember the relevant info to access it, but this is an issue that only you and paypal can resolve.

      They might have disabled it due to inactivity, Give them a call, could be your best option.

    Give them a call. I retrieved an old account by calling their support a few months ago. It was pretty painless.

      Exactly! Not a big fan of paypal...at least for collecting payments...I know of many vendors that have lost their accounts for the smallest of infractions. Hope your account gets re-opened, cause who knows...knowing paypal they may have closed your account permanently due to inactivity... Wouldn't put it past them.

    I called them and looks like it will be cleared up.

    It was locked, I owe them .01 yes one (1) cent!

    They said call back in 3 to 5 days and they should be able to unlock it.
