Where to start with all this?

Hey fellow marketers!

I have been bombarded with information about internet marketing and have submerged myself in people like Ryan Lee and David Cameron Gikandi. My question is really where to start? Do i do a blog first? Do i put up a site? Do i write an article? I have a friend that has shown me some stuff but to be frank he's way ahead of me and he tends to explain things way too fast for me to really get an understanding of it. It took me through some things like butterfly marketing but i just want a nice way to start and build on things until i become a great internet marketer. Any comments?

    Hey Deek,

A blog is one way to get started because its relatively cheap to set up and easy enough to update. The one thing you need to remember though is try not to get to bogged down with information. Information overload can be distracting. I know, easier said then done. But concentrate on the niche you want to tackle first and plan a system whereby everyday you do certain tasks for your blog, whether its:

article writing (then submitting it to various article directories like ezine articles et al)
forum advising (warrior forum et al)
video marketing and uploading it to various video sites (tube mogul)
    blog commenting

And every day keep a journal of the actions you've taken with your blog and keep an eye on where traffic is coming from (google analytics) and work on improving upon it every day.
Consistent efforts will reap results but you have to start somewhere. Its good that you have a friend who is ahead in the IM game, ask him for advice when necessary but do it your own way first. And try not to get to caught up with all the information that's out there. Distractions will just tie you down and not move you forward. Action is key here.

    Best of luck

I think I would stop and decide what comes most natural for you, and try to start there. If you are better at writing, then start a blog or write a few articles. If you like design better, do some layouts or logos.

I usually start by doing research, research, research, and then suddenly the spark hits, and I am off!

I gave my mail to 1 site - just wanted to download free ebook...and guess what? My mailbox got over 400 messages from arround 10 gurus...
I tried before paid membership to guru's forum...about mass building sites and so on...I bloody regret for my wasted time!
My point is - why someone will share his successful tactic which bring him a lot of $$$? My answer is -when this tactic is no more successful.
Then gurus start to teach other how to make money with their outdated and not so good or worked tactic...That's my 2 cents...

    Hi Deek,

My question is really where to start?
The place to start is here in the Warrior Forum, where you can discuss your plans before you try to do everything at once all by yourself.

Next you should consider what you enjoy most, and your strengths and talents. You can look at your own goals, short term and long term. Then you'll be able to make your personal ranking of what criteria are important to you in an online business. With those criteria, you can decide what makes the best sense for you... which might be different than what would be best for me, or for someone else.

    Regards,
    Allen

      Hi Deek,

Blogging is indeed a good way to start. Whatever you do though you have to start a customer list. That is where the money is... And also, pick one thing that you want to do (Blogging, Review Sites, Article Marketing, etc.) and STICK TO IT... Don't do what I do and bounce from one thing to another you will never get anything done!

Where you start is by finding a niche that is profitable but that you also have some kind of affinity with. For instance I am a musician, but royalty free music is way more profitable than selling my own cds. From there it is just about building content, getting backlinks and monetizing the traffic.

I would cheose a niche, set up a lead capture page, and offer tips and useful information to that list.

then I would write 2 articles a day and 2-4 videos a day untill you have bout 30 articles and about 90 videos,

then I would start blog commenting and forum posting, and building relationships, and getting contacts with other business owners in that niche
